Well, I am a man of few words but the spirit movie disappointed me. I have followed the life and chronicles of the Spirit since I'm a little boy, and my father was thought at the school of visual arts in New York City by Will Eisner, the creator of the Spirit. It pains me and I have a heavy heart to say that this movie was dreadful. My favorite comic will never be the same again. Frank Miller is a one trick pony. Miller uses his visual style as a crutch in every movie. I think that he can't do any movie without that style. He gave the movie a terrible plot. He at least should have made one of the many comic issues into this movie. He tried to cram every spirit character into a two hour blur. He will be frowned upon by any spirit fan or by Hollywood. The had a chance to reawaken a great comic book into a favorite for our generation. Now people will walk into a comic shop, see the comic, and think it stinks because the movie stinks. I didn't think it was possible, but the Spirit will never be alive to me on film EVER AGAIN! Will Eisner is rolling over in his grave. God rest his soul, and his work of art.
