Howdy folks, just dropping by to create my own introduction. Am I right to assume as long as this is in the noob forum, I'm allowed to create this thread? After all, the introduction is for other members to get to know each other on a name to name basis, and how many of you honestly regularly check the introduction thread? This is not an attention thread, only an introduction, which I believe is allowed. Mods, PM me if you do not approve, thank you.

So, a few facts about myself; I'm an 18 year old from Texas, newly high school graduate ranked 68 out of about 470. I'm a hands-on kind of guy; very crafty, and can do pretty well if I put my mind to anything I try. I started off high school taking medical and health classes with the thought that I'd fall into the medical field, however, volunteering at a hospital for a year really opened my eyes of the field, and I decided working countless hours day in and day out in that sort of environment can be really stressful and eventually boring. Fortunately, at the same time I was also taking multimedia classes, where I discovered I had a keen talent with programs like Fireworks, Photoshop, Dreamworks and the likes. In my senior year, I took Photography. That's where my teacher recognized my talent with the programs we used, and she moved me to Photography II. In this class, we dealt with filming and I loved it. Now as a graduate, I plan on attending a local college down the road to get my basics out of the way, and then enter a university to major in Graphic Design and Film.

As far as pepakura, I've had very little experience with paper craft, and I can't wait to see what I can create. I've read all of the information I found, so I have a general idea on how to create my own armor, thanks to the stickies. But there's only so much information you can get without actually working with your hands, so bear with me if I ask a few questions. I am, after all, a noob in these waters! I think I'll get as far as the bondo stage before I'll need any help, because I'm still a bit iffy on that.

And lastly, I'd like to say I'm not a total noob, forum generality speaking. I may be new here, but I'm also head administrator on another forum. I only say this because I know how new members of a forum can be, but I do have a head on my shoulders, so you guys wont have to worry about me. I think that's about all I have to say for now, if you guys want to know more or something, just hit me up with a private message and we can chat or be buddy-buddy. Totally up to you.

Enough about me, I encourage people to respond with information about themselves here in comments, and not with the crumby old generic facts you see in the introduction thread. Have to start somewhere if you want to build a friendship with other members, right? I apologize if this is out of line. If it is, tell me otherwise in a PM. Thanks for reading.

Better be careful! Here, have a life jacket, just to be safe:

I actually do look at that thread every now and then. Mostly when a new member has caught my attention in a negative way. Always interesting to see what they wrote there - or if they introduced themselves at all ;-)

Well, I hope I haven't caught your attention in a negative way! lol

Oh, and everyone, be on the look out! I'll be starting my own build some time next week, because this is where Spartans are made.

Welcome, but it would have been advisable to simply post this in the Introduction thread. Imagine what this forum would be like if every new member created a new thread to introduce themselves.

Good luck on your build. I'd suggest foregoing creating a new thread and editing this one to make it into your build thread when you have photos to show.

Enjoy your stay.

Hmm... I suggest that you understand what is allowed and not allowed in 405th. There are rules for a reason. Your thread is considered an "attention thread" which is an offense. The introduction thread is there for a reason.

Please read this before starting any other thread.

Beside that, welcome to 405th.

Aren't you guys being a bit harsh? I don't even think there is an official rule about introductions. This all seems to come from Adams intro video, which is explicitly unofficial, so it's basically good manners, not a rule, to introduce oneself. This has just been pushed to everyone's attention over the last few weeks because it's been mentioned so often and right now everybody seems to like bashing the new guys with it (sorry, no offense, but that's how I see it :)).

At least he thought about what he posted, didn't ask for any files, armorz or prices and didn't use lolspeak. Can we really ask for anything more in a first post?

I've read the rules, I don't believe this is an attention thread but I guess that's up for the mods to decide.

I agree with you that we may be harsh, but Spitfire has a point. If every members start a new thread to introduce themselves, the forum will be filled with "Hello! I'm so and so!" The rules were written, and I think we should stick to them.
The last few days some Mods came down hard on several members because of not WIP thread. Just want to point out the fact that the Mods are upholding the rules. That's all.
