Visor Buck Question

How much of an issue would this size difference be? Obviously molded PETG will still hold some elasticity and be able to bend a bit, but is this going to pose an issue for me? Only purchased two sheets, I’d love to not waste them!

Also bought a cheapo visor from XCoser to get an idea for how it might look when completed, but the Chinese New Year has delayed shipment for a long while. Oops.

I would recommend getting a few more sheets on order if you can. If your source has changed, I have a McMasterCarr link on my forum profile that I use for 12"x12" sheets.

The reason why I recommend more sheets : If you've not done the process before, you have a decent chance at making a failed visor pull, there's always the chance and I know I would likely fail and use up the two remaining sheets.

To answer your question though, I'm leaning more towards no/kinda? Your formed visor will be pliable to a degree, but because of its geometry, it kind of squishes top - bottom as you pull outward if that makes sense. Me personally, If I had the situation you're in, I'd try at least once.

Here's my visor vacuum pulling setup.

I actually got mine from there as well! Just realized I bought 12x24 sheets, so I'll cut those in half and have 4 12x12...

Definitely need to try & find some cheap countertop oven for my vacuum forming, I doubt my "heat it up with a heat gun & press it down" method would work too well...

Thanks for the photo also!

You would be correct, that would not go well! I recommend Goodwill esque stores / resale stores / Facebook Marketplace for finding a countertop oven like that.

Also you want to cut your sheets down to match what size of vac table you have. Mine is just barely under 12"x12" so that size works for me. Of course that depends on your setup overall though, you'll figure it out!

Hmmm...Sounds like I'll be making my table 12x12. The world is my oyster!

Does a 12"x12"x0.04" sheet really stretch enough to cover the full buck? Seems like a pretty decent amount of extra material would be needed (but I'm going in blind of course)

Sometimes it might not, unfortunately that's completely up to whatever size your buck is and from there a kind of on the fly decision.

I know the H2A ODST Visor and that Artaius visor shown in my picture there was dang close to not working out. Fortunately we got a decent pull or two that was usable.
