I would say they look awesome. It does look dangerous, with it pointed at a certain spot in pic 7"

LOL  ! I didn't get past how huge his arms look in the picture to see the rest. Yeah, he's gonna have to be careful there! ;)
That's a great face Joe

Those look great! I'm really starting to like that Bulldog a lot.

I know I'm eager for that reference pack. ;)

Yeah I'm starting to like it too, and I have some other plans for it once we settle on size. I'll try and get to those pictures asap mate, and I'll send them your way when I'm done. ;)

Hmmm... Looking at the 20% reduction of the original model, it still looks a bit akward. I know I haven't been following this thread as closely as I should, but I'm thinking a possible 5% reduction might be in order. It might seem akward to me simply because you're holding a wood cutout, not an actual shotgun. I've only held and fired 20 guages in my life, never a 12 guage, so I don't know how massive they feel, but I guess it just seems a bit big. The bulldog seems a bit more managable by far. I think it might just be the shrunk barrel, and maybe the shortened action contributing to that appearance.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Silent Viper is in the process of doing a M90A build here- *Shameless Plug For Friend's Build* and he's made a 900mm tester which is a 27.5% reduction from Bungie's dimensions. I'm tempted to go with that size but my only concern is that the grip will then be too short and need lengthening. Which is easy to do, but I've already mucked around with a couple of sizes on the Bulldog (the barrel OD, and part of the grip) and want to avoid anymore if I can.
I just don't think the 20% reduction is a good enough size for us to be basing our props off of. I mean take another look at it, it's still pretty long for a combat shotty and the pump is really BIG. I think it could warrant more reduction. Plus while the Bulldog is noticeably shorter it's not exactly the pocket powder keg I was hoping for. It's almost the size I think would be good for the M90A. I'd really appreciate more feed back on this subject in particular.

I'm really loving the proffessional approach you're applying to this project juliet! Seems like this hobby needs a bit more of that kind of thing to push us (as a forum) out of the "hobby" genre, and into more of a "I do this as a side job" sort of thing. ;)

Thanks Heavy Gunner. Been that we're doing this for ourselves we have a major advantage that film prop makers usually don't- time. Even though I wish I was building by now, I want to make the best prop I can. And for me that means exhaustive research. I'm sorry I haven't got anything more interesting than ply board cut outs to show you all but seeing as how I would have gone through this for myself anyway (it's a tiring personality trait and the reason that I've never really finished anything I'd started up until I meet Linda) I'm hoping I can establish a size for the M90A that others can feel is a good size for them to build off of too.

did you end up making it ??

Hey Tom, thanks for the interest (just keep an eye on post dates, the last post on here before yours was over nine months ago ;)).

No I haven't gotten around to doing anything more with the Bulldog since my last posts. I started a fitting and turning apprenticeship shortly after my last post and also started learning to do my blueprints in autocad (see the link in my sig for those), as well as promised to help too many people on too many other projects (not really here on the 405th, just in everyday life). But I haven't forgotten about it.

I was not 100% happy with the size and intended to re-scale it again based off of S1l3nt V1p3r's Shotty Build which came in at about 900mm if I recall correctly. I also want to look more at the design and see if I can't give it more of an individual flare while still been obviously from the HaloVerse, now that there's reference material of the Reach shotgun coming out I may look at incorporating some of that detail into it.

I've got a couple of smaller build projects I'll be looking at first, like a heroic emblem for my workshop and perhaps a couple of the knives I've drawn up, but after that I hope I should have enough free time to start on the Bulldog build. ;)

Believe me, I'm the same way; always going back to projects (mainly my schematics) and giving them a good once-over again to see what I can improve on it, lol.

Part of this hobby is making each set of armour or hand-held weapon to our own specifications, something that we're comfortable and pleased with. As such, whenever you can get back to this, I don't doubt it'll be awesome ;)
