In my experience it is best to start with something simple and work your way up to the more complicated pieces. Nothing sucks more than starting somthing complicated and having to re-do it later because you didn't know what you were doing at first.
 
I wouldn't recomend it. You'd probably have to build it up over a cast of your body/make molds/cast them....big $$$

Besides, thats a lot of oil clay to do a part that big.

Pattern it out in cardboard then fiberglass it, or fabricate it in plastinc.
 
Id say start thighs, really plain and simple then take Ronins advise and move to the belt next.

well you coudl even start belt then thighs then shins. all arnt too complicated and you could do them all faster then the upper halve.
 
i have a fiberglass bodycast if that will make things simpilar for making the backpiece and the rest of the suit
