Why are we called the 405th?

I was just wondering where the name 405th came from. I noticed there's a 501st and I'm curious about the relation.

405th were the marines that the chief assists in the battle of earth in Halo 2. 501st is a clone/storm trooper batalion i think...

The name is taken from an infantry division from Halo 2. We fight alongside them during the First Battle of New Mombassa

The 405th, out of Diego Garcia, fought in the 1st battle of New Mombasa and toke heavy casualties, fought along side the master chief during the 1st battle of New Mombasa, fought at delta halo with severe casualties, fought at the delta halo quarantine zone with severe casualties, a few remaining 405th members fought at the battle of high charity along side master chief 117 and presumed KIA, the fate of the company is unknown as of this time..........

Aw, beat me to the punch.

But, combine the fact that the 405th were a battalion of badasses who all got killed, basically, with the fact that the 501st were a legion of badasses who did the same, and that's the premier Star Wars armoring community, and you get a good idea of just how perfect it was.

and the 501st was started sometime in the 90's as a stormtrooper costuming club. Lucas then used their name to be the elite clones of ep. 3. 405th is already halo cannon, and it seems fitting to the idea this forum is based on.
