This is not true. As I've stated many times before, I've had an Intercooler on my 360 for almost two years now. Still on my first system, and it's not fused or even singed the back of the 360.
The most I get any more is a Hard Drive Failure error that's as easy to fixed as turning the 360 off then back on, and even that is rare.

I will say, a friend of mine just got a BRAND NEW 360. Hooked it up and it RROD on him RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. I think the newer systems have some serious issues.

You could always spring for one of these, haha.

the intercooler is not the only cooling system out there for the 360, and is the only i know of that plugs directly into the power brick port.

Read the entire topic before you make a thoughtless post. The intercooler uses too much power in some cases, overloads the power supply, thus killing the thing and causing the rrod.

Most people have 0 problem with an intercooler, but with the mass of those who have had it, will you risk your machine?

While its true it takes away the power supply, it actually only takes it away from the dvd drive, its effects depends on the type of dvd drive you have, i personally think toshiba/samsung are the worst. You could always taket a pc fan and solder it to the 12V spot on the motherboard, thats what most people do so as not to take pwoer from the dvd drive, but still i htink that the best thing to do would be the penny fix (in my other post) , that is if M$ definately wont give you a warranty. By the way, have you taken it apart your 360 yet? if so then instead of the towel ttrick you could just take out the fans and leave it on for about 2mins, same effect just quicker.

Listen up folks. Most inter-coolers pump air INTO your 360. all this does is recirculate hot air inside the xbox WHILE voiding your warranty. Just keep all vents open and place it in an open area. i used 2 VCR tapes to open the bottom bents and it is looking okay.

However, inter-cooler fans make Excellent cooling systems for helmets!

tsk tsk.... It is true that the 360 has many problems concerning hardware, but only in a few key areas. Those areas are the X-clamps and the ramchips. The red ring of death simply means a general hardware failure. Most of he time this is due to overheating, or the X-clamp screws not being tight enough and therefore not making contact with the motherboard. There is a way to test for both of these called the towel trick(originallyfrom one of the mods at llamma.com) Simply take a towel and wrap it around the 360 and let it overheat. This will cause a warping of the motherboard to to the heat and pressure of the X-clamps, and will make contact with the motherboard. This however is only a temporary fix that only lasts hours/days and will evenntually stop working. When this happens the thing to do would be to replace the thermal paste on the cpu and gpu. But what i found out when i was going through all this is that there is a simpler fix called the penny fix. By putting pennies on the 4 ram chips(which are right next to the X-clamps) it takes away heat that they are producing and also warps the motherboard jutsenought to make good contact with the X-clamps. I dunno if you have ever taken your 360 apart( sounds like you haven't) but i have haad to many a time and have dealt with this very same problem, i would strongly recommend the penny fix, heres a link for a detailed tuturial and video tutorial

this fix is very easily reversable and easy to do, all it requires is dissassembly of the 360 and removval of the motherborad, no soldering any wires or anyything( you can even just use electrical tape instead of hotglue to hold the pennies in place), i hope this helps and i wish you luck, like i said pm m if you need help, i know what your going through

I'm sure glad someone else thought of this as well for my XBOX when I bought it I already expected problems so I went and got a few rubber washers for the screws on the motherboard and a fan for the heatsink I installed the fan onto the heatsink with it's own power supply simple enough just a 9v battery with some stuff from radioshack its a computer techs best friend. As for the RROD there are 2 diffrences the 3 Ring if I am right only means that there is a A/V problem but if it is a full ring it is a hardware failure I'm not sure exactly if thats right so it might be vice versa.

easy solution. i have 4 xbox's 3 original and one elite. elite has never died! why well not only is it an elite bt it has an intercooler. the one of the originals is fine. has an intercooler and is over 4 years old. the other two had no intercooler and both have rrod.

but wait their is more! the reson the other two with rrod died is because they had no intercooler and they were both in hot rooms or in an enclosed cabanate. keep your xbox in an open space not in a cabinate and put a damn intercooler on it.

now as for your intercooler melting to your console... my question is how or why. ive taken mine off a few times over the years to clean the fans and they were never glued or stuck on. maybe whomever has the intercooler sticking on has done it themselfs?

now be warry do not buy the intercoolers that make your xbox have to stand up. why you ask they dont actually cool anything. the side that they are put on is the xbox air intake. and standing your xbox up can also turn into a nightmare bcause it will scratch your disks over time. so DO NOT BUY THE MAD CAT INTERCOOLER!!

on a closeing note. if your xbox gets a rrod while your intercooler is on its because you smaked the back of the xbox and the intercooler is slightly loose. reconnect and you will be fine...

as for the xbox that is already rrod before buying a intercooler you have to send it into microsucks to get it fixed.
