yea i just restarted mine. done with the right. just started on my left. im not compelled to finish my chest. i guess cause i know it takes forever to finish and i want gratification sooner rather than later

ok so a bit of an update.

my new bicep beside my old one. old on is the left, new one is on the right

as for all the new members. i always see "what type of glue?" some use hot glue, some use super glue. hot glue is of course hot, you can burn yourself and cost a bit for new glue sticks. super glue is great cause it sticks fast and strong but with how much you need, it will cost you a bit. i prefer elmers glue sticks. its easy to use it and it holds just fine. you are using just paper after all. plus one stick is enough to make a whole torso plus more and it cost a bit less than 2 bucks a stick. just for extra measure i get the crafts one

all right, im back. spent a week down at my dads place during my schools 2 weeks off. went to the miami speedway for the firework show, gun range, and zoo. had a blast. but even when i got back i was rather lazy, didnt really want to any work on my armor.

but last night i finally got my butt in gear and almost completed my torso armor. gona get to the rest right now.

list of pieces pepped
left shoulder
right shoulder
left bicep
right bicep
side helmet attachment
knife and sheath
torso(since it will be done in an hour or 2)

a neighbor of mine who's a hobbiest gave a pint of resin and some hardener so now i dont have to wait for my next check to go buy it. im going to get as much done tonight before i get tired. soon as i do ill post some more pics.

well i couldnt post any pictures due to the internet being out all night and i could resin with some freaky rain that came in out of no where, i did finish the torso though

i had cut the sides apart so i can get this thing on

once i had it on i realized that it was way to big in the front to back aspect so instead of making an entire new one i went ahead and cut out 4 inches of the side and clipped them together. its fits me much better now.

is it me or do i look sexy with it on, lol. will try to resin today but its already storming. went ahead and put them in the garage so i can when i get back from class. today i will also start pepping my helmet and possibly a thigh.

Pieces are looking good man! It seems to me that the chest piece could be a little small when you insert padding later on, it may also be that i can't really tell from my spectators' perspective. How does it fit? Are you planning on putting any padding inside?

Great job so far, keep it up!

thanks. well since i cut out 4 inches of the side it fits much better but it has more room than it shows in the picture. i actually have another 2 inches that i tucked inside when i clipped it together. i made sure to leave some extra room for padding. though im not doing normal padding like others do. im making a padded vest that will fit under the suit. it will be snug to my body and since im doing my padding this way i can make details in it that are around the lower back and stomach area, like the real armor. that way i get the details and it stops the armor from rubbing against me.

my gf had these yoga mats. their flexible, easy to manipulate, and cheap. im going to have to sew few pieces together to get the extreme angles. it will be kinda like how people make their suit out of foam, but im making an under suit out of a yoga mat, lol.

Looks pretty good so far! On another note, How do you put your posters up? I had a Halo 4 one which I put up with blu-tack and it fell on me during the night and woke me up. It'll be interesting to see what your armour looks like when it's done!

Everything is looking good, Bud. Have you had the chance to try and fix the warping you told me about on your chest? I've had it happen to me. I hated it trying to fix it. LOL.

thanks to you both for the compliment.

@goboy3133- i used tacks for my posters. i dont trust tape or that blue sticky stuff. though tacks will rip your poster so you want to put a layer of clear scotch tape over the corner where you intend on putting the tack. that way it will be much harder to rip through.

@spartan_127- not yet. it kinda put me in a bad mood with the torso so i dont even want to look at it right now. but i did get the work done on both shins and the cod piece. im going to post pictures tonight or tomorrow.

i love my landlord. she gives me work to do around the house and pays me for it. instead of me waiting till next month to buy my fiberglass and bondo i get get it this weekend. i need more cardstock too. already ran through my initial 150 sheets

Hey!

I'm not too far from where you are in my own build. I'm 5' 11" 180lbs, and I noticed that you did the Reach Torso V3. Can I ask how the default file fit you?

That's one nice torso! Seems like it fits you nicely. Very nice pep work. All these spartan builds make me want to make one myself after I finish my ODST. I am impressed!

wow. it appears ive been gone longer than i thought. well i would first like to thank everyone for the comments and compliments. im currently in the process of joining the navy and there was also my college midterms and ive been putting alot into getting my motorcycle up and running so ive been quite busy. ive resined what i have pepped out and ive started on my layered ma5c AR. i have to re-pep my torso. i had put it in the garage so i could resin it the next day but it rained a bit and the humidity warped it beyond repair, agh.

i will have pictures up later today as its 2:47 in the morning.

if i remember correctly it was a bit to small. im 6"1" 182lbs. my scale is 25.412. it fit perfect for the height and width but it was to deep. i had to trim off about 4 inches from the sides.

small update. my MA5c AR. i know its really rough but this is just the initial shape. im going to go over it with bondo to get it rounded out.

okay I see what you mean. You just trimmed the parts that go under the arms. Okay that's cool. I'll keep that in mind when I'm either pepping my torso, or making it out of foam

i know ive been away for awhile. i havent had much time for anything but college and work lately.

no offense to anyone who modeled these but the proportions were way off for the forearms, thigh, and shin armor. i had to take them into maya and re-do most of them. now they couldnt fit any better.

i dont know if im going to get this done in time for the con thats in november. i still need to fiberglass and rondo everything. worst case scenario i just fiberglass the inside and paint the cardstock on the outside so i can where it to the con. i can rondo it afterwards.

Everything is looking good that you've been able to do. I was getting a little worried about you being gone. Glad to see you're back.

I may need you to tell me how to mod the dimensions like you did. I've got a thigh and /or helmet file that I might have to do something like that to so that it won't require a ton of cutting and adding or subtracting to fit right. I don't have Maya though, because I can't afford a $3,000 program. Then again, I really know nothing about 3D modeling. . . . . . . LOL!
