Those one dollar paper masks do nothing to prevent you from inhaling the resin fumes, just invest in a good respirator that protects you from resin vapors. Also, I have no idea whether or not that police gas mask will work, but you may be able buy replacement chemical filters if those don't work.

Little general of a question, but to say the least you need a respirator when you fiberglass. Those sanding masks and similar masks will do nothing to the resin fumes. Read this: http://405th.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8604
