A Computer Virus You Should Be Worried About.

I really don't think it is something we should worry about.

If it is a malicious program designed to do some damage, and the guy was found, he would be in some serious $#!T.

If it is just an April Fools joke, he will still be in the $#!T, but nowhere near as much.

I honestly don't think anyone would be dumb enough to screw around with Micro$oft, especially dealing with something as big as this.

I don't know Tater, Microsoft has put out a $250,000 reward for finding the person behind all of this. I can see the creator(s) of this worm selling the worm or making money off of it. That is if its planned to keylog who ever its affected.

Best regards,
Mike

umm is anyone else thinking this is another one of those stupid Y2K crap? well i do. if something happens it happens if it dont it dont. remember kids computer virises dont kill every computer at once they try to move from computer to computer but always end up doing nothing because people have viris protection. especially big corporations.

this is another y2k conspiracy.. if it happens woot to the creator if it dont no one will give a damn, kinda like the new crud people are looking at with the world ending 2012 get over it. if something happens we'll get over it and whatnot... kinda like when you breakup with your first girlfriend or boyfriend you will get over it and move on. its how things go.

delta38, I don't think you should really worry about your console, what would a hacker gain from taking over consoles?

Well, let's see. If the virus infected 360's and it just so happened to infect the xbox of a bungie tester........ THE HACKER COULD HAZ RECONZ!!!!!! LOL

i doubt it'll be a small virus, considering so many are freaked out about it. Even /b/ has a few threads on it. But, who knows. Imma chargin mah AVG as i speak.

i'm not worried about the computer, its hardware and it is replacable, but what i am worried about is identity theft, what if it keylogs infected computers to get social security and other information?

They just did a story on it on CBS's 60 minutes.
Great story, a lot a info but still an overview.
Unplug your computers from the net April 1st! (unless you're a Mac user :cautious: )

Thank you for being the first person to notice this and say something about it besides me. This is the whole reason its so big.

Think about a virus infecting over 10 Million computers. Say April 1st hits, and the worm is triggered. And 8 million out of the 10 million people put in bank/credit information to their PC's within the first week or so. Every person is middle class, and has $10'000-$15'000 in their savings. Now I'm not too sure if that's exactly how it would work but, all I can say, that's a lot of money to be stolen.

Like I said, this whole thing is about getting money. Whether they sell the worm to someone, or keep it for them selves. It still boils down to the one thing. Money.

Stumpy, one of the only reasons there are barley any viruses for Macs is because PC is so much more popular. Trust me, as soon as Macs start to get as popular as PCs, there will be a wide variety of viruses for them.

Best regards,
Mike

Its a worm so its hiding from us. Anyway to tell if you have it already? I have Anti-virus, which I have recently updated. However, about a week ago I used my flash drive at school on a computer in rotc, then at home and on my grandmas computer this past weekend so if my school computer had it then the two computers I've used could have it, plus my usb drive. Scary thought. All the school has is AVG, probably the free version and who knows how often the computers get updated. My grandma and I both have Norton Anti-virus, which we keep updated.

Identity thefts not a huge issue for me, because I don't use anything to buy on the comp. and rarely put personal info into a computer, but my brother uses my comp for his paypal stuff so I'm worried about him.

LOL!!!! Its the first and im posting now that i have not got anything yet not even a pop up that says april fools.

Oh and this whole thing i think is a joke. CNN are doing something like what BBC did a few years back wen they reported on flying penguins. :D

Apple market share in computers is 10% world wide and 21% in the United States.

Personally i dont think macs well ever become as popular as pcs but hey if they keep you way from viruses for the next 20 years ill be happy to pay the extra for this (of course with updated specs this is just what i got)

Someone earlier mentioned McAfee already had an update for it?

Does anyone else find it suspicious that McAfee ALWAYS seems to have something first?
I dunno if it's just 'net rumours, but didn't they get busted a few years back for releasing something they then sold the fix to?

And yay for Macs. I'll go download Arby 'n the Chief naow.
