You like knives don't you...
Rofl @ blackrose

but if you knife them and they don't have knives, you're basically screwed legally.

To the dude who said crap about throwing stars: Get a grip on reality.

Those weapons take training to use (it took me around a year and a half to get any kind of accuracy at all. But then again, maybe I just suck. Still, bad idea), and if you miss, you're f***ed. And besides, if it's gotten to a point where you're in a fight with said people, they'll be up close and you won't have room to throw stuff at them. The whole point of a ranged weapon is just that, RANGE. In a situation like that, you'd be better off taking the throwing knife and stabbing blindly with it in the hopes of hitting someone who isn't yourself.

</rant>

As said before, self-defense is a last resort. If you think the death threats are getting a little too serious for your comfort, go down to the police. But if you find yourself being followed or cornered, and it's blatantly obvious that they intend to do you bodily harm, by all means, defend yourself. I will however say that you should be seeking to incapacitate so that they can't hurt you, not actually hurt anyone. And people, don't discuss ways to hurt someone on this board, it's not nice.

Hopefully, you will never use this knowledge. Also, find better friends, ones without police records.

Alright, I'll take my knife.

I agree with spartan 117 you can get into BIG trouble if you bring a knife, in my school you can get suspended for bringing in fingernail clippers.

Rofl, I just noticed how someone said that about throwing stars.

K its like this for everyone who is talking about sharp objects.

KNIVES ARE MEANT TO KILL PEOPLE. (well in fights)
Theres a chart that states when the use of force is necessary and legal.

Knives constitute as a deadly weapon, as do baseball bats, and yes, sometimes your fists can, but only if you're like 6'5 and 2000 pounds vs a much smaller person.

If you use a deadly weapon vs fists, you're going to get royally screwed over. Also, theres the fact that knives can seriously injure someone (yes I know what punching and kicking someone can do, you can use anything as a weapon and screw someone over, I know) Theres not really a good way to say it but- fist vs fist, knive vs knife. And only initiate when they do. Self defense--not assault.

If that makes sense.

like just avoid knives all together, and that would be great.

Amen. Seriously, with your description, unless your friends are all like Arnold Schwarzenegger, you should have no problem in a fistfight. If they've got baseball bats, well, like I said, you probably made a bad choice in friends somewhere down the line.

Basically, the order of things is:
1. First, talk to your most reasonable "friend" in that group. If it doesn't work, then...
2. Avoid them. If they stalk you, then...
3. If it gets too serious, there's always authorities. And if the authorities can't/won't do anything, then...
4. If it gets into a fistfight, defend yourself. Aim only to incapacitate them long enough so you can escape. If they bring a weapon, then...
5. If it gets into a fight with any sort of blunt weapon, then you can consider that knife.

If for some reason, they have more dangerous weapons than a heavy metal blunt object or a small blade, then you've got really crazy friends and you're probably screwed.

That pretty much sums it up in an organized matter.

Anything your still hazy on?

Well bud a couple of years ago back in high school I got death threats from a kid who had the most power in the school. he was 6 foot 3 inches about, and from trenton NJ anyone knows that is a bad place. for the rest of the year I had a group of african American boys following me around. But i still had courage, and wen to school like a man. I would have to pray that I wouldn't get hurt everyday. So Take me for example, People actually were gonna make good on there death threats, hen they were arrested. I Came out victorious in the end. this all started with me saying a simple "Shut up" to one kid. Be strong and never give in to fear!

Well i guess the rules in the rest of the US are different than in the Conch Republic (the FL Keys). Also the fact that I was raised to defend myself to the death. Ive stood my ground while being shot (just airsoft and piant ball guns, but at point blank range, the whole lot of ammo, and while i was in nothing but a t-shirt and shorts), Ive been stabbed multiple times by "non" weapons (pens, pencils, unbent coat hangars, sharpened wooden dowels, you name it, i've probably been shanked by it), and just blaintly beaten. Show no fear, and show no mercy.

But I guess thats just me....

Yes, I like my knives and I will carry one (or 6) on me at all times till the day I die. Hell, I even sleep with 2 right next to me (just in case) lol.

And I wonder why some of you call me a lunatic.....hahaha

Contacting a councilor about it is the best thing to do. Using a weapon can be extremely risky, in more ways then one. You would be sued and 'so' many bad things would happen if you serious injured 'anyone' with a knife, or any other weapon.

You may want to overlook my advice, because I've only been in a real fight (if you want to call it that) once: And it was very short... I won't go into details, but he said some things to me/told me to do some things/ wanted me to tell some people some things, and I wouldn't do it. So, one day at lunch he walks up to the table I'm sitting at and tries to punch me. Luckily I saw him coming and was able to lean to the side before he hit me in the head. I stood up, and just stared at him. And, to my surprise, he tried to hit me again, except this time I wasn't so nice... he fell backwards onto the floor screaming, and holding his jaw. It was a terrible sound, because the more he tried to open his jaw to yell, the worse it hurt... so he would scream louder... and the cycle repeated for a while. -- the jaw was broken in I don't know how many places, he had to have several stitches, and needed some new teeth. I felt terrible, and was very scared after it happened. I prefer to make friends before enemies. Knowing martial arts is helpful, too. Which is the only way i was able to avoid those two punches. 'but, unless you already know some, you probably don't have the time. :/ Also, running is *always* an option. If you see they have a knife, gun, whatever, don't assume you can out-fight a dude with a knife. If you use your head, you can avoid/win most fights.

Please don't go looking for a fight. O.O... but remember, if you absolutely 'must' do something don't hesitate.

Well what I did, is that I used a old cellphone, not even working and I did like if I was dialing the 911 and I was like. Well there's 2 guys, [Names with last name] they are with knives, please come fast.

Of course, I was faking, but they just run as fast as they could and never bothered me again. And they did not had knives, I was just faking :p

2 knives, and one sword right next to me... in case of a zombie apocalypse of course...

IF your "friend" doesn't believe you, perhaps next time you should choose your friends more wisely.
There a bunch of kids... so on the unlikely chance that they DO confront and assault you, just go to the cops straight after, once the cops talk to them they wont bother you again. And to make sure they don't, get a restraining order. If they to do something to you again, its jail time for them, which also screws up their entire future... and you win.

Their probably sci-lons anyway... ;)

Edit: forgot to mention, dont bring a knife to school, if you have to bring something to defend yourself, get a tazer, its legal to carry one in the US right? (then again it could be legal to carry a knife in the US, it isn't here in aus)

You know, this whole topic was a pretty bad idea. By posting a post, your IP is logged in an easily accessible form. If there's some serious legal stuff going on and any party involved except you finds this topic, with the intents to bring a knife to school you could get in a lot of trouble yourself.

You could most likely get an escort for the day (Policeman or something if it's really that bad). Talking to the councilors or people in charge might be a good idea, as long as they don't tell your friend that you warned the authorities about death threats. Death Threats in a school environment can lead to Juvie or worse. Bringing a knife to school can too.

My advice wouldn't be to bring the knife, but make sure you're in range of something that could be used in self defense.

For the record, I have no problems with knives, I'm just advising you don't make a stupid choice.

Glad you guys got some discussion out of this but remember it's our policy not to tell people how to decide what to do in their lives. We don't have the credentials to make those kind of statements.

1. Speak to people in a position of authority (they will either take action or not, if not move up to someone higher in the food chain)

2. Survival school of martial arts. SSOMA (Kelly knows what I mean)

Personal stuff not official*

My personal experience is that everybody in my school had a pocket knife and most had shotguns in their trucks so being outclassed by a pot dealer with a baseball bat was never really an issue.
