Hey there,

after a long time to get the gut to post something I've decided to raise some quiestions that are very important for my upcomming project, quite frankly if the responses will say it's impossible to do I can pack my bags rightaway. I've been doing a lot of research on this topic and trying to find pics/videos/commentaries, although I found some enlightening material, but it didn't sufice. Jugging from the pics in some topics I saw over the past few months a lot of poeple here own an AEG airsoft weapon.

So my questions are:

1.Is the hop-up mechanism connected to the gearbox or the trigger by some kind of leaver which after each pull of the trigger loads another BB round into the chamber?

2.In my project I'm counting on rotating the hop-up mechanism by 90 degrees so the BB rounds will load from a mag on the side of the weapon, what are or can be the consequences of such an action?

*Note that I'm well aware that I may have to modify the gearbox somehow so the hop-up will fit like if would in it's normal position.

Lastly I would like to ask if you're going to reply to one of those questions and if you're able to, please post some pics about what you're talking about so I can get a better idea. I don't know anybody who owns an AEG weapon and there aren't any shops around that sells these things so I'm wholly dependent on this topic.

Thank you for your time.

I'm surprised no one answered yet.The way you described, I'm not sure you really understand what the hop-up does.

1.It is nothing more than two small rubber balls inside the barrel which put an upward spin on the BB when shot. It has nothing to do with the gearbox, it is part of the barrel assembly.

2. Do you mean rotating the magazine to the side? Not sure if it will be very easy to do this. Whatever you do, make the rubber notches point upwards. The spin puts an upward spin on the BB, so it will drastically curve in the direction. If you were to rotate it 90 degrees, it would curve to the side, aside from going strait.

Here's some pictures.

I've had airsoft guns for a while, and done my fair share of taking them apart. If you need anything else, don't be hesitant to ask.
