I don't think theres ANY guarantees the movie is coming out at all...not until a distributor steps up to the offer. The longer it sits in limbo, the less attractive the deal probably looks to film companies.

halo won't be popular forever, missing out on a good timing makes it look like milking the franchise. Especially with halo 3 and halo wars coming out.
