Just got back from Outpost Discovery in Anaheim with the 405th Pacific, and am now more motivated than ever so! I have just started my first Spartan build, and it was suggested I make a build thread.
This one will be a mix of foam and 3D printed parts. Helmet, gauntlets, outer shoulders, and tac knife will be 3D printed. The rest most likely will be made out of foam.

Here is what I'm aiming for. Though I may have to go with a different helmet as I haven't been able to find workable CQC helmet files. We'll see, might be a Carter helmet by the end.

Had a little buddy watching my drink while I work

We'll skip all the paper cutting and tracing, needless to say my hand hurts....
On to the foam!!
The first piece is going to be the base chest. Addons to come later.

Cutting is done, my hand hurts again. Next update will be assembly!

Look at my foam bucket.

Boy do I hope we can get CQC to work for you! It is such an underrated helmet and would be a nice change to see! Cant wait to see further progress
For sure, I hope so too! I might know where I can buy one....so we'll see!

After 1,000 cuts, you'll develop muscles and you hands won't hurt......or you'll develop carpal tunnel and switch to full 3d build......50/50 chance. Oh, and ....Welcome to the 405th.
Haha fair enough. I'm always tempted to print everything because the computer can make better looking pieces than I can.
Thanks! Been around for a while but haven't been active until recently. That's gonna change big time lol.

And where the hell did you get white foam from? All I can get my hands on is the standard color!!!!

I've also got the ODST shoulder on the go. One part is done, the other will be finished in a couple of hours.
Fresh off the printer:

The other thing I neglected to mention, is I'm doing weapons at the same time. Here's my sidearm.
I decided to go with the Tactical Magnum modeled by MoeSizzlac: Halo 5 - M6H2T Tactical Magnum Add On
It's fantastic. I did have to reprint the flashlight a couple times, it seemed to be the only thing that didn't want to fit on its rail (not pictured). But a couple minor resizes and we're good! Now I just need to finish sanding, paint and assemble.

I've also made decent progress on the pistol but I forgot to take a photo....I'll update that tonight.

At least you remembered to post now! That's all that counts!

Progress looks good. What do you have in mind for seam filling?
