So I technically started the project back in early 2024 when I started printing my helmet, measured to fit my head with a little ear folding and this thing is huge (never knew my head was so freakishly big) and I realised how dauntingly big this project will be.
Skip forward a year and a bit and now that my partners Cosplay projects are winding down and my printer is back solely under my control, it’s time to get printing. My only restraints are size and the time the printer is active as I work 1:30-11:00 5 days a week and I don’t like leaving the printer running when it’s alone, I do not trust the machines…
So I cut the files down into portions no longer than 12 hours at a time and print at around 70-90mm/s, it’s a Neptune 3 Max, it’s huge but I feel it’s upset and frustrated with the limits I put on it.
Anyway, helmet built, sanded, filled and sanded again, sprayed up and now adding details, other colours, still a work in progress, plus need to sort the visor out as it’s just got a proxy in at the moment.
Recently made a start on the front and rear armour, looking good, I think, yet to do the initial fit test, used Armorsmith but I always mess these things up. Printing a few more bits today and hope to keep updating as it goes on. This will be a slow build project but aiming for a first use at a comic con in early 2026, as long as civilisation is still a thing and we aren’t all dead by then.
Hope you enjoy my successes and failures as I explore it.
