BillBill Builds A Noble Six Suit

Found the fix, isopropyl alcohol strips acrylic but doesn’t eat away at the rest of the paint

Hello! It’s been awhile, I’ve been posting updates on the discord a bit but haven’t found the time to post here.

The big update is that I’ve got the suit like 80% done! Enough to do a suit up for trick or treaters on Halloween.

A few parts still needed to be finished at this stage (boots, knee guards, dyeing of the visor) but it was enough for a suit up and pictures.

I bought a Halloween LED light strip at the grocery store and fed it into the holes on the torso, it’s not the most sophisticated system but it works.

Since then I’ve made some additional progress. The visor was dyed a yellow/orange using iDye Poly

Two weeks ago I started printing undersuit parts using flexible PLA. So far I’ve gotten the arms and neckseal printed. Mobility is passable, not great but I get a full bend at the arm and can move my neck and head fine. I think with some more tweaking it’d be even more usable then I’ve gotten it so far.

And final update for the time being, my visor is now chromed! Visibility is suprissingly decent. Thanks N8TEBB for the tutorial!

One day soon I’ll have to do a full suit up with the updates, but this will have to do for now.

Project is going on the back burner for a little as I’ve got an even more important one to tend to for now, since my wife and I welcomed our daughter late last month : )

Looking hyper-lethal! This is inspiring and informative for folks like me working through a first build. Thanks for sharing, and congrats on your daughter!!
Thank you! I’m glad it’s informative, it’s been great seeing everyone else’s threads here so it feels good to know mine’s helping others!

Side build I cranked out over the past few days for a buddy of mine who’s getting married, he’s always wanted to be an ODST so I figured I’d get him a new helmet to replace the old one I made years back that I was never proud of.

Loved seeing the journey on this! Absolutely outstanding work Spartan!!!

Long time no post, but I suppose if anyone can necro my thread it might as well be me!

Had the unfortunate luck to be relocated for my job (after moving for it already in the past), and in that whole mess of a situation the movers accidentally smashed my torso armor and put a crack in my helmet…

I was super pissed but I’ve tried to take it in stride as best I can, so I’ve been reprinting the chest armor and other parts that were never scaled the best, and repairing and repainting the rest that got damaged in the move.

So far I’ve got the whole suit minus the belt reprinted and primed, and the torso and helmet repainted.

Really proud of how the helmet came out, I took the time after repairing (and reinforcing) the crack to sand it back down, fill in any layer lines I missed the first go around, and just repaint it with all the knowledge I’ve gained over the past year.

The damage sucked but it re-motivated me to get back at it after the break I’ve taken most of the year.

Yeesh it's horrible to see those parts all broken, but glad that you've recovered and are using it as motivation to rebuild it better than ever.

The new helmet looks phenomenal, so I can't wait to see how the suit comes out this time around, especially after reading through your thread and seeing your other versions!!

That really sucks but the helmet looks amazing! I can’t imagine the feeling opening up everything and seeing it destroyed. Glad you were able to get back up on that horse!

Figured I’d drop a pic of the chest while I work on painting the arms this evening. I'm using Instinct Creative's files and I have a mold printed for the undersuit section of the chest, but I'm pretty scared to spend the money on the silicon for it so I may just print it out of Flex-PLA in the meantime.

Last chest used regular plastic and was cut in half to get it on and off but I never really liked that.
