yo black rose hows the paint job going? just up loaded the photos of my wepons there in the "need to keep busy" thread I for got the brute shot and missle pod pics but there comeing tomarow

Wow that's alot of money to owe your dad - good luck resigning I did it this weekend it is very exciting to glass and resign

there once was a post of how someone endoglossed (i think that was his custom term) his rifle to give it an internal frame. it might be more than you want to do right now and he never did a full tut, but he cut the pep in half and fiberglassed the inside and put it back together and bondo'ed the seams. looked pretty nice, add some resin, probably look pretty good. i have alot of experiance with expanding foam, not with modeling in specific, but you could end up doing the same thing to your pep that it did with your homemade mannequen

Thanks guys!!!!

oh and tenacious, My plan is to put a couple of layers of resin and once i feel like its sturdy enough, ill be filling the body cavity with expanding foam for my inside structure instead of glassin... and why do both? i just got back from the bank and i managed to slip 30 bucks into my pocket for: resin, brushes, expanding foam, and beer. lol

Beer makes everything better, so even if your creation turns out bad (which i doubt considering what you've shown us thus far) you can drink it perfect!

Im actually good at working with alcohol in my system lol. I tend to concentrate better because I focus on whats right in front of me and I block out everything else. that way i can spend all my time focusing my attention to detail ;)

I dont do drugs nor do i advise anyone to start drinking to see if it makes your armor outcome better. I am a professional alcoholic with many years of experience under my belt lol.

Almost finished my S2....was wondering..has anyone scaled it up?...As it is as you say a tad on the small side..
Good little model though...and its mt first pep attempt!..

One 14.5x114 Fin Stableised Armored Piercing round..

In all its 115.80 (or there abouts) long taken from this source and adapted...
14.5mm

Now all i need to do is resize the rifle untill the mag fits this round an in theory it should be correct!

Does anyone think otherwise?

Hell, sounds like it would work to me.... or you can just read this:

The SRS99C-S2 AMB, having a rifled barrel, is about 168.5cm long and is completely interchangeable.

from halopedia. 168.5= approx. 66.34 inches

Just scale it to 66.34 inches in pepakura

I thouhgt that was absolutely rediculous, so I kept it at the size RvB4life had it at and mine is at 54 inches right now, but since im replacing the barrel with PVC I might 'up' the barrel to be an inch or 2 longer.... I havnt decided yet.

EDIT: shArk, do you always keep armor piercing rounds with you at all times??!?!? jeez, i didnt see that one coming hahaha.

LOL u mean the .50cal round next to it?.Or my pointy one? LOL.

I looked at it at 168.5cm...I had it scaled to that for me by a forum member and its alarmingly huge!.

The green line indicates how much room is in the mag. its green as the pencil was on my desk..lol

..so i deducted 10% from it and i got this...

Do excuse the bad pics...I have to use my Mobile phone...

HAHAHAHAHA! I TOLD YOU THAT FREAKIN RIFLE IS A BEHEMOTH! I liek the way i have it (54") it fits me well, i think. Do what you must, my friend, to find what you like.

Our rifles at the moment are actually chambered for .50 cal...

Heres the mag from my one with the round!..

EDIT for news...

Just sent My resized rifle to a mate who has access to an A1 printer at collage...should get it back in the next few days to start work on!...

The rifle is now 60-61 inches long...Big ole Bugger!

Alrighty then! I just finished putting down one layer of resin on the rifle body and extra pieces, I even went as far as making the knobby thingy on the side turnable for that "realistic" touch lol. I just have a few questions:

Doing a weapons prop that I need to be durable, how many layers of resin sould I put down? Should I fiberglass the outside? Filling the body cavity with expanding foam will it overexpand and crack the resin or something of the sort????

By tomarrow I hope to have some answers so I can get a large part of this project out of the way. Thanks.

No answers? Well i hope I dont screw anythign up toamrrow lol. Pics will be posted tomarrow night if i have anythign worth showing.

I saw a guy mess up the hood on his truck using great stuff foam. His plan was to fill in the holes on the hood "frame" then slice the foam flush so he could have the bottom of the hood covered in Rhino truck bed liner.
When the foam cured, the top of the hood had bumps all over from where the foam expanded.
So if it can bump up sheet metal, you can imagine what it will do to lightly resined paper :D

well i used Good Stuff foam to fill my mannequin ehich was made of seran wrap and packaging tape, and it has gone well (i made sure to reinforce it lol) so after 3 layers of resin i would THINK it would be fine....
