No need to rebuild the whole thing. Too much time and effort has gone into it. Take a drink, relax, grab the dremel and cut out the cancer. One step at a time. It can be rebuilt, better, stronger, faster.

She's like me LS - does some of her best work after a drink or two! Everyone here will help you fix it if at all possible Kelly. You know that. Hang in there.

You guys arn't gonna believe this... the downfall of my beautiful creation was caused by.... tape.

Painters & Duct tape to be exact......

After a quick autopsy of my rifle I found that this damage was actually my fault...

The duct tape was put on as a belt to help the expanding foam from overexpanding in that area.... and i never took it off like I though I should

The Blue Painters tape I used to pour mud and keep it where it was suposed to be without dripping everywhere.... it seems like I had forgotten or mudded in a long strip of blue painters tape and the broken fault line runs the whole length of the tape.... about 8-9 inches of damage..

I hate tape.

@Link- it is cracked through all the layers into the body if thats what you mean. Luckly the worst damage happend over an area that was filled with expanding foam and i'm guessing that saved my SR from breaking in half... the damage on the left side (worst side) runs from the stock all the way to the gas cylinder... The most damage was sustained where the band of Duct tape is. Then from the slender part with the 3 screws to the gas cylinder is a splitting break caused by the Painters tape.

Oh and just to top that crap off, The knobby thingy and one of the legs have broken off but I've managed to put a temporary bond to hold them in place till I fix the body damage...

I still plan to do an update later with the things I was able to work on while stuck in bed (I was on bed rest for a week and a half... i got reallly bored) though, none of it is significant because I dont think i'll be workin on them for the rest of today... im too depressed

*whew* Okay, tape damage can be fixed, but it is tedious. What you have to do is take your Scalpal Dremel, cut away the gun cancer along the seam of the peeling, fill it with rondo and sand.

It's not that easy for the duct tape... I have it wrapped AROUND the gun, so to get rid of it i'll have to cut my rifle in half and cut away the 5inch wide band of tape ...then replace that... it's not really a big deal but i'm lazy, and i'm sad, and I really dont wanna take anything more away from my baby (SR).

I swear it seems like i'm working backwards, always.

You don't have to take it apart do you? Just cut out the section of tape that blew out on you. glass and bondo should fix it up.

If its not completey come apart, then grab your dremel, and carve a large-ish groove into where it has cracked. Then fill it in with some super strong glue or epoxy. Then filler over the top. It'll be weaker than if it was solid, but it should hold.

Its alot like welding ;)

oh, and beware of the instant-heat to instant cool (the ac)
I'm no expert, but if its anything like metal that could make it break more/shatter.

Either way, your a smart lass, I'm sure you can fix it.

Hows your back doing?
All I can suggest is see someone immediately, if you leave it as long as I left it to go get my back seen to, you'll find out that you've done yourself more damage, maybe even permanent damage.
Of course, we have "free" healthcare, but then again, like someone else said. It doesn't mean its good health care. as soon as he saw me "Nope, your stupid stunts have gone too far and this time its irreversible. Congrats and welcome to a painful life."
Of course, that wasn't the case, after I saw a better doc. So maybe the health care you have to pay for in the US is alot better. *shrugs*

Damage aside, heres the not so big update.... I was planning to get some more templates on the body, thats why I left my SR outside to cure... I was preparing for hours of measuring and cutting and screwing and sanding.... but after what happend that plan went to sh*t.... but I did manage to get these two things done while stuck in bed. Hope you like them:

The Flash Suppressor is fully completed, I just need to sand alittle bit here and there. No biggie.

It's a bad picture but I finished my Scope... I just need to clean it up and detail the eyesheild a tad.

And just for the hell of it:

Of course I took the pictures on the not so damaged side... amazingly, my rifle is still perfectly ballanced as you can see it standing on it's own :]

All is not lost, listen to the others and it should be easily fixed!
And the new flash supresor looks great!

it is minimal detail in that spot. why not like mentiond earlyer just cut out that area and just rebuild it?

it can be rebuilt...better....faster.....stronger...

*breaks out into Daft punk*

I know I overreacted yesterday... I was in shock.

The damage can and WILL be fixed.... but my college semester has just started and i'm juggling 2 jobs so.... progress will be slower than usual (which i was already pretty damn slow).

Thanks for everyones help and support yesterday, I was a total wreck.
