Dante's Rebellion Sword...how?

hey man, i gotta go to school now but i'll make the 3d model for you once i get back ok ?
all you need to do is find someone who can unfold it for you in pep ;)

I don't think you realize the size of this thing. hehe. This thing tops at 5 feet at the smallest. Paper won't be able to support that kind of weight.

EDIT: That may not be too bad of an idea persay....maybe not for the whole deal, but for the skull/ribs bit....

well tbh you could create this entire thing from paper (sniper from reach is about the same size) and well, you could resin it after you pepakura'd it ?

Alternative route = 3d model > export .obj > import .obj into pepakura designer > pep prep > print > cut > assemble > resin > bondo > paint.

Now for the parts like the skull and bones, that would be difficult to make look right considering how "fiddly" it would be. I would suggest aftermarket parts from a halloween shop or similar. Once painted, you will not be able to distunguish the aftermarket parts from the base construction.

This is doable in pepakura, and after it has been treated with resin, it will be strong enough to keep its shape, despite its length.

Well, here is my thought, I could shape the main blade out of wood, and then make sort of an outline shape out of the same piece of wood for the boney bits? Then build the actual boney bits out of pep, resin, sand and whatnot, then sandwich them on either side of the outline piece? If that doesn't make sense, I could probably make a picture.

Why not pep it, then use the full pep pieces as stecils and foam it? No wood splinters in the finger, less sanding and shaping, and lighter
put a pvc shaft on the inside for strength, or you could combine both wood and foam. I could see some one Larping with this.

Just an Idea to shoot your way Radio.

Yeah man, that is my general direction towards it, combine pep, and wood or foam somehow, I'm leaning more towars wood however, since this will be attending numerous cons, and will most likly get pretty dinged up if made from foam.

I'm also thinknig about crowded cons can be, and thinking of the spiked handle smacking you or grazing a few here and there.
The Faom is incredibly durable, I don't see how it would get messed up unless someone totally started to just thrash about with it.

This could be done with either foam or wood, But say uou make the blade and a handle seperate, Just a plain Dowel rod handle.
MAke a female inset into the Blades base, Make the handle to the needed length add for however deep your inset is. Make a Pomel and the Hilt out of Foam. The hilt out of two pieces, two face sides, Layer 3 pieces of foam to one sides depth and to demensions needed. Make the two branches seperate, make sure to add somewhat of an anchor for the branches to connect.

Thats the Idea I have for you. Hope it helps.

Awesome! I guess im going to give this a try as well once i got my fiberglass. My idea would be is that you make the whole thing out of pepakura, resin the outside (the not so detailed parts can get some layer of fiberglass as well) and once thats done you apply bondo and do the detailed parts.
Thats not it, because once all that is done you make a mold of it, and you cast the mold with some urethane plastic, once thats dry and ready, you make a whole through the whole sword and you put a long screw in it for a bit of strengthening.
Well that was my idea and i hope it will work for me or for anyone of you guys.
Could i get that pep file/3d file please that would help me a lot with it. Thanks
Forgive me for my bad English.:)
GL!

Forgot to say that this is a more expensive way to make the sword but i think its also the best way to do it because your mold is going to be there for another casting. :)

you could always get you a skeleton kit from target as in here and then foam out the whole sword and then use the skeleton pieces on it then paint and your ready to go

Thanks for the input guys, so, is anyone willing to whip up a pep of this? if so, just kinda make sure boney parts are nice and detailed, and that the total build height is around 62 inches.

Thanks a whole bunch to any broseph that's willing to do that.

Make it out of Styrene plastic. Its easy to use, easy to cut, its lightweight and very strong, hold great together with super glue. Best thing on all. NO SANDING.

Here are some things I made / making out of it

Nice.... but styrene is so exspensice unless you have a place to grab it on the cheap...... imma get my vaccuformer back up and running and start doing some pulls for people, i like high impact polystyrene the best it can take a beating

Sweet plasma cutter and...curvy thing. Hoe much do some massive sheets of that go for?

EDIT: well, thanks for that link Nemisis. I'll get right on that unfold!
