Well, it has been awhile since I posted an update. I have been busy with work and personal items over the last couple of months and haven't had much free time to work on my helmet until now. Here is what I did over the last few weeks.

All the details are entirely made from bondo. I used weather stripping and foam with double sided tape to make molds to spread the bondo in. I removed the weather stripping/foam before the bondo is fully cured.

I created the detail that is on top of the helmet (don't know what it is called) on my wood lathe. When I was done I removed the finished part, filled in any imperfections and made a mold so I can cast multiple copies. The mold is in the background. I also made some with threaded inserts so I can attach them with bolts.
I also made the fins in the back from clay and made a mold to cast them in plastic. I removed the fin insert and bent them slightly to match the curve of the helmet before the resin fully cured. Then, I used a dremel to carve out an area to insert the fins, attached the fins and filled in the gaps.

I will hopefully have some more updates in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned.
