D9's fate has absolutely nothing to do with halo being made, hollywood politics will decide it. Shame really considering it would be amazing...

Jackson is working on "The Hobbit" (2010 I believe) and "The Hobbit 2" (2011 I believe).

Woah, woah, woah. The Hobbit 2?? The hel will that be; Return to Mirkwood? I honestly hope that he's just splitting The HObbit in two sections to make it more awesome.

Watching District 9 did make me wish for the Halo movie from them though. Bomkamp/Jackson/WETA definitely would've nailed the nitty gritty combat feel like they did in the Landfall shorts.

I will say that Halo: Landfall was pretty cool, but after watching We Are ODST, I would much rather that director do the Halo movie. WaODST was just awesome, and gave much more of a Halo feel than Landfall, in my personal opinion.

That being said, it's funny that people are projecting the Halo movie at 2012. "Halo will come out when the world ends!" lol, conspiracy theorists and superstitions :D

Spartan-419 are you serious? The landfall was amazing. Seriously amazing. From a realism point of view, even the way they did the armor is realistic in a practical sense.

The We are ODST was cool, but the CGI was disappointing, Weta did a MUCH MUCH MUCH more amazing job on landfall, and I wouldnt want anyone else to sort out the stuff for the Halo movie. I would be disappointed if the people who did the ODST video did the movie anyways, as I cant see it being as awesome.

I am serious. Landfall was amazing, don't get me wrong, I just felt that the "Battle-Cam" cinematography wasn't too terribly fitting to the Halo "feel." Also the Brutes in Landfall looked really odd, and the Chieftain killing the one ODST seemed a little... rushed as far as CGI goes.

I didn't think that the CGI in We Are ODST was disappointing at all. The Brute looked accurate to the Brutes in Halo 3, and it seemed present on the battle field. Granted the CGI wasn't 100% lifelike, but imagine what could be done with a full budget? WAODST felt much more like a movie to me. Landfall felt like a short documentary or archive file.

I still felt that the Weta stuff was allot better. Either way, as long as someone does a good job, its better than nothing.

I felt that the brutes in landfall looked awesome, but not very true to the games (which I don't mind.) And the brute in We are ODST was completely terrible. The way it just stood there, "preparing" to attack the guy, and screaming at him was completely retarded. That being said, I felt that We are ODST felt a lot more intense and intimate, whereas Landfall had more of a Documentary feel to it.

Of course the CGI was dissapointing, it was a f***ing commercial. A COMMERCIAL.

And brutes do stare people down before they attack. Even in game. Also, the Brut's actions have nothing to do with the quality of the suit, just the actor inside it.

I would have to lean toward the styling of WAODST. As far as suits vs CGI, WAODST pulls a good balance, especially if you watch the full vid; only the environment/skyline was CGI. The brute in WAODST is actually a suit with remotely actuated jawline. Put someone like Jackson in with the right balance of FX and CGI and you would have my new favorite SciFi movie. Check out the making of vid on YouTube:
or the full length in HD:
