I agree that the anchors don't fit in well, making it harder to read the text, so I've got a second anchorless version:

In terms of using an eagle I'm just going with what we have from known Halo sources which do contain eagles.

For numbers of rank and better insignia Adam posted the original insiginas with and without the eagle

The element you added.. overlaps another, doesn't contrast(visibility..), and has far too much detail to embroider or silkscreen cheaply. Big chunks of color work best. I personally don't like the eagle, too- it's too much of an American symbol to be used in the 26th century for my taste.
I wonder what happened to China in the Haloverse?

I agree with Vrogy and Deadguy, there. My personal opinion is we stick with that logo, but minus the eagle. Revert it back to its original format. Besides, we don't want the design to get too complicated.

If this is a design that will eventually be made into sewn/stitched patches, the simpler the better. More cost effective, too.

I do, however, like the ranking system that Adam proposed on the previous page. Having the laurels more for the command staff only, and having the various ranks denoted in the three hexagons is pretty darn kewl.

I definately think that would work... :D

Not a bad eagle for the highest ran I likes.

yeah I like the eagle too, and it is one thing we know thats used in the halo universe, why avoid it?

Thanks Doc and volkov.

On and I forgot to address one of Vrogy's points:
The element you added {snip} has far too much detail to embroider or silkscreen cheaply
I don't think this will be that great a problem as being the insignia for the highest rank I would not expect that they would need to be mass produced.

We have seen the vectors of many logos on the way to finding one, and suiting one to a banner, but here is an example of a possible 3d badge. The simple form seems to work great.

That looks great!
I'm thinking that the simplest form of the logo could be the one that goes on your shoulder as the emblem.

Wow a lot of posting happened in this thread over the weekend...I guess I'll get to drawing some more after lunch XD

All these rank images and such evolved overnight haha

This is the banner page right?

We just need the mods to relocate the non-banner related material. It started well but as soon as all of the various "rank" graphics were introduced, it was only natural that there be some discussion of "how many" and "which ones" and "why"...

This thread seems like it has morphed into the "DragonCon is the first serious event and we need to get all of this stuff settled" thread. That's not really a bad thing and speaking just for myself, I think that there needs to be a place where people with good ideas who may not be on the inner council can bounce those ideas around. I wanted to participate and this seemed like as good a place as any since this seems to be where all the focus and movement is. Sorry if I have derailed anything and hopefully as more formal information is made public, more appropriate discussion threads will appear...

locking until we re-organize this:

Also, we were talking more about look of graphics, not ranks and what they mean... so... rank discussion is closed.

Sweet back on track! There has been a change too! :D The banner now has no limit on color. Here is a basic template

Not-white would be a good idea, if we want this thing to last. (it'd get dirty fast wouldn't it?)

White would last fine, but I think due to the fact white isn't a fitting color for us, and the fact we can use gradients and fullcolor now, we should take advantage. I was thinking a texture or a gradient would be nice for a background. infact I was just looking a digital camos for that propose, LOL.

The formatting of the banner can change but I put the template up because most banner are setup that way, any good design would work though. Adam, mods, what all info do we need stated?

1.logo
2.name
3.website
4.?

What about the banner at the top of the site, or is that much too complex?

Yeah, I'm a big fan of that banner. Everything is pretty much perfect about it, *double checks design theory notes* .. yep.

Cheers,
Kensai

Nope, and we are no longer limited by any means, We could do it just like that. I would just need a mocked up to scale or a high dpi version to print the banner.

Do we get everyone to post action shots in their armor and use them as "faded-out" backgrounds in the Blue mesh sides of the main logo above?

Or some of the promo pics of Adam in his armor and the various slogans?
