I think it looks good Doc, the only thing to me that makes it feel claustrophobic is how "tight" the white halo goes aorund the hex's. Other than that it's very elegant.

Neat BG's X :D

I'll see what I can do about that when I get a chance. ;)

Thanks for your opion, where is your solution?

I don't understand, guys we are on the SAME TEAM! Why can't people seem to learn what constructive and polite criticism is? Or maybe how you would fix?

Look, here's what Adam said.
Less militaristic... I want a cleaner, smoother feel for the new forums and community. ...I want it to look like 2552 and not necessarily in a war, but successful and progressive.

Here's my critique. Overall, I'd say tone down the outlines, keep some space between the elements. Right now I think there's too much clutter. I think the MC helm should be taken out, and the motto somehow distributed around the hexagons to reinforce the tripartite form of it.
Oh, here's the graphic version:

Thank you that is better because I can improve off that, it's ALOT more polite to say what you think can improve on then just dogging it. Are you post up anything?

It kind of looks like an awkward soccer ball. I don't get the blue surrounding it. You know what I am saying?

LOL, I see the soccer ball, LOL!

Thank you SB, and most have told me they liked it..... but it is rough. That's what we're hear to do is refine ideas so that our DCON banner and our promotions look awesome! I'll keep digging.

Our motto. In latin it's "honor, arma, communitas".

Right now it ties into the hexagon logo, but let's broaden the horizons.
http://www.inrebus.com/latinmottogenerator.php
"In igne fortitudo" Courage under fire.
"amicitia et scientia" friendship and knowledge.
"amicitia, scientia et virtus" friendship, knowledge, and virtue.
etc.

Looks good doc! and personally, I'm not a fan of latin, its a dead language and for a good reason, sure it lead to our language, but everytime someone quotes it I cringe.

My idea of a progressive future is considerably.. darker than most.
I didn't like the plotline of Bioshock.

Hi all We should not be doing a logo typ hear. Go back to the 501 bannes and look at what we can do with that. We are making an eye caher from 100 feet away. An ad Adam's has a good logo with the 405 eagle lets do that on a cool halo green banner. It looks HAOLish from 100 feet away.

Good logo, but I think your colors are dull and hard to see. I would lose your outlines too they fade your text into the background, and I think the latin is so close to the english wording that it looks like we can't spell. Although I would never use something like that it is an awesome attempt. Softer outline equals a bur and harder to read the farther away.

Rob are are right that we need to focus more on the banner, but the 501 always puts there logo big on there's, and I think we need an official or unofficial log to build into the banner. I like Spase's the most with what SC did, but Adam is right about the copyright thing.

Any thoughts?

Latin may be a 'dead langauge', but it is far from extinct. What's the difference you ask? Extinct Langauge
Also, Latin lives on in the form of Ecclesiastical Latin spoken in the Catholic Church. Some Latin vocabulary is still used in science, academia, and law. Classical Latin, the literary language of the late Republic and early Empire, is still taught in many primary, grammar, and secondary schools, often combined with Greek in the study of Classics, though its role has diminished since the early 20th century. The Latin alphabet, together with its modern variants such as the English and French alphabets, is the most widely used alphabet in the world. Found here - Latin

Though I think the Latin is a cool idea, it wouldn't translate well to the general public. Though, we could have are own motto in Latin which only members are allowed to know. A latin motto is common in organized groups. Even many of the 50 states have a latin motto. 'Sic vis pacem, para bellum: If you want peace, prepare for war.' - though taken from the Punisher comics, this is actually a motto in the US Military(24th Marine Regiment). I think this is an idea to consider and not wright off right away. If I was a stranger that saw a phrase in latin on the shoulders of this group, I'd think to myself, "These people are serious about what they do."

Well that's my take on it. I still like Adam's patch and logo the best so far. I see where the logo is a little drool, but then Doc I think yours is too busy. A nice happy medium somewhere in between would probably be best. Doc, perhaps if you got rid of the outer ring, not the one with 405th on it, but the blue one and separated the hexagons from each other, make the white ring invert to black around the back of the 3 hexagons. I think that would simplify yours a little better. Vrogy, the grayscale is a little dull, plus I think we're trying to stay away from the 'UNSC Infantry' stuff. Perhaps just 405th at the bottom, or in the middle.

Well that's all I got for now, I have an idea I'm working on. I might be able to post it by the days end.

(y) Very nicely put, and I'll try that.

SO I know we have time before DCON, but I think we need to get back to finding a perfect banner idea so that we can get that out of the way and get on other projects we are trying to complete for the same deadline.

The idea was to soften the edges, you know, make it less militaristic..
But yes, to the banner..

I used some alternate translations so it looks more 'latiney'.

Ok so the file is about 71MB that I was going to show you. I don't really have time to compress it right now, so I'll edit this post tomorrow with the video.
