The no eva thing is specific to star wars groups the rebel legion and 501st have the same requirement for that you may consider learning to work with worbla or sheet PVC. I personally love foam because you don't have to worry about it shattering.

I've heard the same thing about the mando mercs.

Yes, The Mandalorian Mercs Costuming Group does not allow for EVA Foam armor, but as I said a year and a half ago in this very thread,
Opinions on what material to use are fine, opinions on other costuming groups or organizations are something that should be kept to yourself. Neither I nor Angela, FANGS , will tolerate any bad mouthing, insulting or dismissive behavior of other organizations.
