This is one of my favorite anime next to golden boy and deathnote. I really enjoy scratch builds. Are you planning any weapons build or the power cords.

Also, how big of a piece of paper did you have to use to get the pepakura unfolds to fit?

Ah nvm, I just read about multipage prints.

Suddenly lots of interest. I was getting tired of posting 3 times in a row!

the head, as it is, is about perfect size (the pepakura file) but like I said before after completion the hole is too small to fit a head full of hair through. after the bondo stage I will have to really sand it down to get me head through.

What scale did you have it at specifically? My helmet's at 3.6xxxx and that's way too small.
Do you think you could link me where you got your 3d model from? Mine's a real pain.

I posted the link to the helmet file on one of the previous pages. the head seems too small at first, but in the end its perfect size. I debated a little of continuing it after seeing the mouth but i did. it is just the head hole that is too small. you need to sand it down after bondo.

yes please!

Yeah, he's a bit vague, but through different videos, you can piece it together. It's how I'm eventually going to be doing a gundam suit.

It's a basic piece in there, but later in the video(and the thumbnail), he shows what you can do with it, and it really is impressive.

um...I didn't think you were talking about goldy, if you read early on you would have figured out his method doesn't work for one reason: it requires templates that only they have. after many emails i never got a single response.

Well don't I look stupid? Is there any way you can modify the pepakura files a bit? That's what I'm doing for Gundam. I have an 18 inch(that's ridiculously detailed) model file that I'm blowing up to fit me, then just modifying a few bits and bobs to make it a suit.

that's also a problem. there is only one pepakura file for EVA and its the head that I made. If we can get someone to turn those 3d models into files that would be great. the files contain separate helmets and chests then 3 complete units all together. If someone can unfold the helmets and chests then sepoerate peices like the mid section, the shoulder pylons, forearm blade, and shoe covers, that would also be apreciated.

got some more work done today

Also, like I mentioned before, if you have any knowledge or experience converting object files into unfolded pepakura files, please pm me. I kinda need the files to use as templates as they are more sophisticated and I don't think I can wing It like I did with these pieces.

I have separated versions of the head, chest plate, shoulder pylons, arms and legs, shoes and torso, but I don't know how to separate the abdominal armour pieces or the foot amour plates.

Also, I tried to put together a scaled version of the chest plate (because it was the easiest for me to scale) but I am having a hell of a time doing it. I think the model is way too complex. There's a bajillion tabs and they are all too small of a surface area for me to practically glue them to their corresponding edges.
If the head is going to be more complicated than this simple chestplate, its going to be a total nightmare.
Is that why you made your own head model instead of using the one from the official 3d models?

none of these files are scaled

I didn't make my own model, I found one in the pepakura requests buried in the pages. Is there any way you might be able to simplify the model or combine edges to lower that about of tabs? also, is there any way you could upload them anywhere other then mediafire, my router wont let me download from there because it thinks its fishing and before anyone trys and tells me to fix the router that is out of the question.

I don't know how to simplify the models myself, but since you already have the head sorted I don't think the rest of it will be that much of a problem for you, I just used a combination of glue stick and super glue to get mine to stick. Although it was annoying having to wait for each tab to bond and then rip my fingers off the model. haha, I had super glue gloves by the end of the chest plate. But I made it too small! I'm gutted, and have decided that I'll start the torso next and retry the chest plate later.
I know that the head is gonna suck, but if it works, I would prefer the more detailed version. I prefer the original EVA units anyway.

I have close to ZERO experience with models. The only reason why i recommended simplifying it was because you said the tabs where too small. Also if you noticed hotfile requires a half an hour restriction between downloading each file. As said be fore I recommened anybody to use 4shared, works for everybody and doesn't have ridiculous restrictions. Also, I was able to get a copy of your chest plate unfolded from mediafire (was the only one that worked for me) and it was all connected which wouldn't work If I were to print it out. How did you fix that for you? Also, what size did you use for the chest? if it wasn't too small i can just make it a size it up a bit in my pep program and see if it will fit me.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have time to work on this :/ next week is my last full week of summer vaca so its time to kick into super work mode.
until tomorrow enjoy this YTP I made:

Steo good job on the unfolding of the models though they dont fit the paper sizes. I feel if we could find someone who could modify the head to make it more person friendly then we can do a good unfold of it and then we would have an even better helmet then the one I used.
