So, as some of you probably know today is download day for FF3. If you pledged to download it you should be getting an email sometime soon! It's finally here!!! What do you guys think of it?

Download it here.

Edit: I forgot the link. >.<

From what I've read it's an improvement and definitely still better than IE. Not sure yet since I just installed it. Personally, any improvements are welcome since it's a great browser. Been using it for a little bit now and it seems to be a little more stable and pages appear to load faster. I'm not taking the memory hit I was.

It seems to load faster.

Other than that, and the hideous controls (Back, Forward, Refresh, etc), I don't see much difference.

If you don't like the interface you can download add-ons that make it look different. >.<

I've been using the beta for a while now, something else I noticed is that flash seems to load much faster.

I've heard that not only does FF3 suck, but they removed all other versions from the website.

Besides, I like IE better.

but IE is slower and not as protected, check CNET.com for their comparison, trust me, it'll convince you

As long as an IE user goes to TRUSTED SITES, there's not much need for more than virus protection, virus scans, and possibly SiteAdvisor.

most of the sites on the intertubes are not trusted sites. enjoy your visit to Microsoft.com.

I too hated Firefox for forever, I preferred IE. Then I found out that you can get pop-up blockers, ad-blockers, and a crap load of other add-ons for Firefox. That was forever ago. And yes, it does load faster.

I only use the internet for B.net, 405th.com, and xbox.com, unless I'm searching for something, in which case I use Google in conjunction with SiteAdvisor.

im with IMAGONNAGETYOU on this one you can get all the pop up blockers etc. with IE7 click the little gear called tools then internet options also you get tabs wich are faster than opening new windows but there both better than LINUX

IE7>ff3

So apparently it's pointless to post my opinion in here since everyone has already their mind set...

BUT I'm going to anyway because it's the internet and you have to endure my opinion, whether you like it or not!

FF is awesome. I switched back before 1.0, and I haven't looked back. (Well, I have, but all I've seen are Firefox copycats.) The customization and Add-ons are what make it great, because it's open source. Anyone with the know-how and a good idea can make an Add-on and share it with everyone.

I guess you could say I love it for the little things.

I know this.

It just seems like they would have picked a better design for their new browser.

If you like IE7's better, you can get a theme called "myFireFox" that makes it look 98% like Explorer.

Anyway, in my opinion, Firefox is the way to go. I used to hate it, until i discovered addons. After customizing, I was sold.
(plus you can't beat open source imo)

Thanks for the notification, gamerguy. I didnt know 3 was released yet.

I downloaded it just to see what it's like, I used to use Firefox all the time but now that I don't really have a need for the add-ons I don't see much that makes me want to switch. I do like the theming aspect, just a shame I can't theme the rest of Leopard to match.
I'll probably load it up on the windows machines just so I don't have to use IE but I'll be sticking with Safari 4 on the Mac :D (got to have my web apps ;))

from mcs. nuff said. 100% true. (edit: stupid links & img)

I'll be waiting until I upgrade, because of the add-ons. I haven't got the time to check compatibility this week, although it's looking good, essential stuff for me like Web Developer or HTML Validator seems compatible.

Tater Mane: I actually wanted them to keep the old design. See, it may not be the prettiest, but it's the most efficient and I've got used to it. Even on Vista, I find the IE design hideous and ineffective. Tabs are so much superior in FF1 & FF2 & FF3 compared to IE7, but IE7 is easier to configure, there just aren't many options (bad in my opinion, but probably not in everyones)

um, yeah, well it sure seems you know what you're talking about, especially because this has nothing to do with LINUX and firefox has had tabs for, ummm, ages? oh yeah, congrats also on using so much punctuation, ie user!

and, yeah, sorry for that, maybe I should edit it because it might start a flame war. But you might as well get your facts right, because only then can a discussion be productive (see above).

I prefer IE7, It's got a very sleek design and it's alot more convinient then firefox. (example, deleteing the cache and web history can be done by 2 clicks)
Allthough i do have to admit, firefox is safer and faster to browse.. But who cares when you got a 100MB/s Internet connection xD

Thanks for posting about FF3. I didn't know it was out and I downloaded it instantly.

Firefox is the tool I use most at work. It's the first browser I test all my websites in. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to develop for IE. Nothing kills me more to see something basic render incorrectly (margins, padding, borders V_V). Firefox produces the most predictable display so I start with it and do workarounds for IE. Also, Firefox supported PNG transparency and tabbed browsing before IE. I feel like if there's a new feature to be had, Firefox will deliver it.

FF3 seems to have load times like Safari but comes with all the goodies I'm used to. A major plus.

From a pure user's standpoint, I think IE is okay, but it just doesn't offer the things I personally need for casual or professional use.
