Hey all. Spartan 420 reporting. I have been lurking on the forums for quite some time and the time has finally come for my first post. A little background on this build:
Some time ago I made a pepped recon helmet in hopes of starting my own set of armor. Needless to say countless obstacles hindered me from making much progress on it. So to the backburner it went. . .

Well now it is Halloween time and guess what my nine year old brother wants to be? You guessed it, a Spartan. So began the build. (I apologize for the crappy cell phone shots. Its the only camera I have.)

Seeing as this is just a Halloween costume I didn't bother pepping all the pieces. I custom made every piece with cardboard cutouts. Once I had the rough shape, i then generously applied paper mache to all the pieces with the end result looking like this:

After this stage came the paint. He chose to have blue armor so...

Test fit on me. The kid has a big dome. =P

I think he looks pretty good for a midget Spartan!

Recently started adding the harness for ease of use:

Halloween is just a few days away! Wrapping up the project before then. Final fit photos soon to come folks.
This was a budget build obviously. I must say it turned out much better than I anticipated. Already started my next project...Details soon to come on that as well.

Thanks very much. Also just a note, I modeled the armour from the Noble Team statue I have. Always great to have a reference in the round.

dude, that actually is pretty sweet looking.
Hadn't thought of using paper mache as a building material for this.
i wonder.... how it'd compare to fiberlgass if you soaked the paper sheets in resin before putting them on?

I don't know how that would turn out RavenWolf. You may be onto something there.
The paper mache over cardboard worked really well. The end product is solid yet flexes a bit to fit the body's form. Surprising results to say the least. Would work as a great platform for resin/fiberglass for certain.
