First Build - Halo Reach Armor

Did a full suit fit check tonight to nail down the crunch priorities before Gaming Expo next weekend. It was my first time wearing everything (except the belt which I keep forgetting to do) and it’s exciting seeing it all come together.

Two sunny days in Washington means PAINT! I had the torso and helmet sanded and ready for paint. Still sanding everything else. I will have a fully wearable suit for Gaming Expo this weekend, though it still has a long way to go until it’s done. Looking forward to the first outing to see what I will learn.

It was nice to meet you at the gaming expo on Sunday, even if we didn’t get to talk much. It was hard to believe that it was your first build as well from how it looks!

Hey! Yeah welcome to the 405th! It was hard to have actual conversation in those helmets. I liked how easily yours slid up and down. I’d cut my nose off if I tried that, which now that I say that gives me some helmet mod ideas…

Thank you so much for the compliment!

Helmet tweak: added a 3D printed duct to direct the air from the fan exhaust directly to the helmet vent I carved into the bottom and put a little screen over. This reduces the airflow across my lips (drying them out) and also reduces white noise in my boom microphone. Still has great helmet heat and moisture exhaust!

Modeling it took some time since I have zero blender skills. Henry from HHF actually messaged me the dimensions of the port and I hacked together a bunch of squares and negative volumes in PrusaSlicer until it fit perfectly.
