So small update... I've nearly finished the belt, thighs, and forearms. Just doing detail work on them now. Pulled an all nighter, got run and get more foam, all that's left structurally is shins, boots , and helmet. Pictures coming soon

All nighter eh?! That wouldn't have anything to do with the case of Mountain Dew in the background would it?! :D I too, pull all nighters. With the weather being so cold, my schedule is completely backwards. 'Tis all good though... I don't have anything better to do! Great job so far. I can see that you are very dedicated to this.

well as of yesterday there is a hopeful dead line of the 15th. And the mountain do is the effect, not the cause of the all nighter lol. Once the suit is done, I'm going to make the operator helmet from reach, its looks fairly simple to make, and it was always my favorite, I already sketched a little bit of it out for stencils. any advice on making a helmet with foam?

any advice on making a helmet with foam?

Yup! Check out other pepakura helmet files designed for foam. That should give you a good idea of how to cut the foam to make the shapes you desire. Also, when you make your cuts, first cut them straight up and down (no angles). Only cut your angles after you have got an idea what they will be. More often than not, they will be 45 degrees, but in some cases they could be different. Also, as I am sure you are finding out... change your blades very often. I just bit the bullet myself and bought 200. For my Iron Man helmet, I probably used 10 blades. Depending on the level of detail, figure just over one 2'x2' square. I see you have the 1/16" Wal-Mart foam. I sure wish I had mine when I first started working with EVA! The thinner foam allows you to do so much more.

The different thickness foams do make a huge difference. Thanks for the advice, so far I've been doing most of it lol. I change blades very often, makes a huge difference. I found a pepakura model for it, and I've been referencing a lot of pepakura models for various pieces. I just picked up some more foam, (I was almost completely out!) and had a great Idea for the lenses on the front of the helmet above the visor, it has 3, two small and one big, I grabbed 2 mini flash lights from Harbor freight, and a jewels eye glass kit, you know the little monocles they use? btw HB has the thick eva on sale for 7 bucks a 4 pack.

looks like you are doing a hybrid build as those shoulders are not what you find in Reach. still it is looking pretty good so far.

It's coming along so nicely! I'm really enjoying how clean it's all looking. ^^

I'm wishing I'd had a dummy like that to put my pieces on through my build; my mannequin is striking a very inconvenient pose. -_-#

lol, 4 rolls of duck tape, some old clothes and a buddy ;) Thanks, almost done with the first shin...
