Halo 3 Chief - "Finishing this fight"

Well guys.. I've been a lousy 405th member lately, not having much time to get on and see people's builds or share my own progress. That said, I have been working on the new torso lately as I have time and I'm very stoked with how much more game accurate it is in detail and scaling then my current one. I'm hoping to have it wearable by the end of this weekend, we'll see! This new torso is almost completely freehand, the templates are pretty much entire free hand drawn using pdo as a starting point, but completely altered for game detail, it's been fun and challenging! Also here are a few recent suit up pics with the new helmet from back on Halloween night.

Haha just the second torso, dont worry! My last one is a year old now and well my skill has greatly improved since then. I saw enough areas and scaling that I could improve on to justify a new one. Definitely going to be a huge improvement to the H3 Chief look. Got both power packs done now. (taped on for pics)

The neck collar looks new and everything is crazy crisp, yeah it an improvement, give you a cookie!

By any chance are some of these peices laser cut?
No never. I cut every piece out one at a time as I'm building because I cut all my inward and outward angle bevels cuts at the time of cutting out the piece. It makes the seams flawless and also guarantees the pieces come together correctly. Clean seams start with very clean bevels. I use a #11 exacto for all cuts

Wow. It looked like some of the egeges were darker on the lines and they were so perfect I thought they were laser cut. Nice job then (as always. At this point I dont expect anything else from you xD)

Thanks man!! Once it goes through the final caulking and rubber sealing stages, it will be flawless. Until then I strive to get the foam work as clean as possible

Needless to say I am crazy stoked with how game accurate this new torso is, should really take my H3 Chief to the next level! Assembly is complete but I still have alot to do. Still need to make the back of neck detail, under arm seals, chest scar, some final power pack detail, shoe gooing to finish, and the buckle system. I will be using these cobra buckles as they lock so much easier than parachute buckles and they're even easier to unlock. My old torso, my handlers sometimes had issues getting the big parachute buckles to unlock, it was a struggle sometimes. These Cobra buckles slide in and release so simple easy, and once locked, they are essentially indestructible. The normal military ones are aluminum and about $50 a pop, these are a hard impact polymer version and perfect for the intended use, not quite as much cost as metal, but still pricey at $20 a pop.
