It might also be worth looking at how WETA did the Marines for "Landfall." This thread from 2009 actually has a bunch of intact picture links to the Marine armor used in the short and other promotional displays.

I had NO IDEA that thread or those images existed! That helps a ton!

I have also come to the conclusion the thigh harness is a solid material vs fabric after seeing those pics! As well as the buttplate. I will be sure to include at least the file for the butt pack when I provide my unfolds to everyone! Ill have to free hand the thigh pad/harness, if my templates survive I will include the file.

Update time...

So I have the lower part of the back attached, and I have ran into a bit of a problem. The inner part of the side strap is too narrow for my rib cage causing the top straps to sit about an inch or 2 above my shoulders. I plan to rectify this by some clever strapping on the inside and some sanding along the inner rim of the side straps.

Overall I like the scaling on this, now just to make it fit.

Im so glad someone caught that lol

So I took a semi night off the build tonight, i did however clean up the sanding on the shoulders.

I was really not happy with the indents from the screws last night, my dremel got all spinny and really trashed the piece. So using TNT foam clay I patched those spots up and let it cure overnight.

I got home from work tonight and decided just to watch TV instead of building, but I felt I should still get SOME work done tonight, so I busted out a sanding sponge and cleaned up the clay and shoddy sanding from yesterday.

Heres a comparison shot, ones cleaned up, one is not. (Both are done now)

The color is tricky. But layers is what makes it it right and a brown wash. Then some edging to really make it pop. But master_colt117. He can give you some mad good tips on the color

Ill definitely check out his build, im familiar with his work! NobleofDeath16 actually had a custom paint blended for an ODST helmet commission that were going to go with.

And the shoulder pieces are done! (Minus screws/googlie eyes)

Next up is the butt plate and ab protector!

(Edit) So I unfolded the abs, saw it was BASICALLY a flat piece so I just decided to knock it out real quick

Now see I saw more on the same example you posted of the front and back view. Looked like is goes under the belt too like the one flack vest did
I dont have my fatigues or belt yet, I do have plans for that for sure, Im thinking velcro for the back of the belt? and then the middle piece will hang down under the middle of the belt. thoughts?

All right so I handled a few small smaller things today while I wait for my combat boots to arrive

First off I tackled the Thigh pads and strapped up the butt plate. I reinforced the holes on either side of the pad where the strap connects with Sintra board to prevent the foam from tearing.

I need to readjust the top strap on the thigh pads so they sit a little higher on my leg, but I love how they scaling came out, I freehanded them so at first I thought maybe they were a little too small.

Speaking of freehanding, I finally started to tackle the vest/ undersuit. Instead of doing a full vest (mainly for comfort reasons and the fact you wont see the rest haha) I went for more of a harness style approach.

The straps are all hidden under the chest piece and the foam pieces hang out just like my reference material!

Alright Construction is now complete! Here are the boots! (Minus the greeblies and straps as those will be added before paint)

And everything else is plastidipped (minus the boots) here is a shot of the back of the chest with the rivets added!

While NobleofDeath16 works on painting up the Marine armor I am tackling a Halo 3 M90A Shotgun! It is scaled to my height using the following formula:

My Height / Master Chiefs Height = scale
Scale x length of weapon = scaled weapon size

I then printed out a full size image of the shotgun.

Starting with a layer of Sintra board as a base to make the shotgun rigid, I attached a sheet of harbor freight EVA foam to either side of the Sintra. Then using 6mm foamies I added on details in layers.

Once I had everything attached I sanded the pieces round so everything was flush on the sides and to achieve a cleaner more accurate look.

And currently its still drying but I also used foam clay for the grip.

Im hoping to get the rest of it finished by the end of the week!
