Wow that is harsh some much for a learning site, I was told that i needed polyester resin and fiberglass so its my fault that they got mixed up? and I was discussing something with another member so before you start jumping down throats you should read.

to simplify everything, forget about polyester resin, just use the foberglass resin, return the polyester resin if you still can

I dont think it was meant that way. All of the information is here. That is the main thing to remember. Read the stickies in the noob forum. It saves time in the long run, and youll be more informed when you have questions. It has taken years and lots of people to compile those stickies. The admin here expect everyone, new and old, to put in the research before posting old questions.

Not biting at you, just helping you fit in with everyone. We all share knowledge, but you honestly can learn almost every thing you need to know in these stickies. It just saves this kind of conversation is all.

If you use the matting and the resin together, it is much stronger than just resin alone btw. You can get it in the auto section, or an auto parts store.

And that response wasnt harsh at all compared to others Ive seen. It was about as nice as that sort of thing gets. Stick around, when you start creating and posting progress pics, youll see people becoming more helpful and friendly in general.

Its just the way it works. Dont shy away from the baords, we ARE here to help each other, just learn the basics first. You can PM me if theres something you just cant find and Ill try to help out.

It wasn't harsh. This topic is 7 pages of you directly asking simple questions which could have been answered by reading the tutorials and help topics throughout the forum, which is your responsibility as a new member.

This is a "learning" community, but it's not a place for one person to have their hand held throughout the entirety of a build, there is some stuff that can be easily figured out on your own.

To, at the very least, help you out;

I assume the "matting" that Arioch is referring to is the fiberglass mat used during fiberglassing.

have you ever dealt with fiberglass before? Just judging on your questions I'm coming up to the conclusion that you haven't, if not, you might try readin about Rondo, which is a mix of the bondo body filler, and fiberglass resin, to use in place of the matting for the inside of your helmet. I know benstreeper has a great tutorial on how to do this on youtube, I personally watched it several times. it's a set of about 4 videos I think, so, watch them in order. This is after you have made the helmet shape out of pepakura and put the initial coat of resin on it. I noticed you said you were a visual learner.

I hope benstreeper is ok with me posting this, if not I'll remove it

Wow Donald Darko 3 you just pop in and start gripping (Sorry for the harsh language choice that was here) but thanks for the help, yeah i am new here but your forums are not labeled to well. you cant just type in materials and have a list of them pop up. you have to fight through hundreds of random forums before you get a hint of what you are looking for.

Doden,

You are getting a TON of help here, more than most new guys get. But I can see you doing several things that will get the mods after you. The beginner questions, the double posting and the language. Please read the stickies, the forum rules are covered there as well.

I still offer you help if you absolutely cant find an answer, pm me.

EDIT - I am speaking with Doden now in PM, it looks like he is just very new. Hes trying to fit in, and it looks like hes going to read up on the forum rules.. hopefully the rest of the stickies will follow!

First, Nobody has been "bitching". They are only letting you know that most of the things you ask are already here if you simply look around for them. Your best bet is to read and read. As I said before, these questions have been asked by hundreds of new people coming to this forum wanting help. Most never complete one piece much less a whole suit. That is why they created the stickies.

Here is the list you've been looking for.

Copy and paste into your browser. Something is shortening my links, sorry.

I already found that list and even the pple that have been here longer than me where confused about some of the stuff that where on there so thanks, but that is already over. All i am looking for is help. So if your contacting me to say stuff that donaldarko3 was saying then leave me be. I dnt need three or four pple telling me that i need to read a forum when i was communicating with one member and there jumping in. I had already read that forum and was asking him where he got something because i couldnt find it in a store that was mentioned.

Oh, I guess I invaded a personal message then? My bad, sorry to disturb you.

Your ok u are trying to protect your fellow members. I just dnt like pple poking fingers at me when they dnt really see the full picture. Also i cant seem to find head measuring tips. Would that be somewhere in creation or the forum before? Nevermind just found a good scaling forum

Wow lol I just found that Is this the best one do you think? Since after you put the Fiberglass resin on your piece and then let it harden can i do that then wait tell i get the bondo then do that? I want to have a few trial runs first. also one other thing do u put the matting down on wet fiberglass an go over with more? I am not understanding the forums that well when it comes to that.

Ok thank you(Didnt know if there where other forums) and i found some videos that will help me on the other half of that reply

I think you're mixing up the forum vocabulary a bit. This whole thing here is called a "forum", and it has several sub-forums (like the Noob forum or the Creation Discussion Forum, which in turn has several sub-sub-forums). When you reply, you create a new "post" and posts that belong together by topic form a thread. Threads are accessible when you open the forum and the posts inside are numbered (this one is #79 in this thread, for example). If you have a completely new topic you want to discuss, you pick the forum into which it belongs and create a new thread there.

So what you were saying is you didn't kow there were other tutorials on scaling. Yes, there are. But in the end it usually comes down to just taking a ruler and measuring yourself, plus some creative thinking on your part.

The other part of your post wasn't there when I replied, you added that while I was typing. Yes, you lay your mat or cloth down into the wet resin and then put on some more until it's fully saturated. You can also skip putting on the resin and soak your cloth in resin before putting it on, but that may be unhealthy depending on the resin and safety equipment you use. I don't exactly see where you can get confused about that, to be honest...?

honestly doden, take a look at my last post on the page before, I feel with your experience rondo will work for you much easier, even has a video tutorial for you
