Halo The TV Series Master Chief full build

Nice! Totally agree. It also forces you to ensure wearability is at the forefront of a build. At 66, wearing a full costume (Mando, Cooper Howard, Dalek , MC) for 8-10 hrs at a time is impossible without that. The 20 something crowd can put up with a lot of 'issues' when wearing a costume ... not me

I started cosplay by jumping off the deep end in 2020 when i decided to build a full scale Dalek and at that time the only thing i literally knew about electronics was that the red wire wire went on the positive battery terminal & the black on the negative. Roll forward to today & Dalek Nim has 3 Arduinos running 8 different systems and I even figured out how to take apart an electric wheelchair and retire it nevermind all the fiberglassing techniques I had to learn along the way.

This is one reason each new build is selected so that I have to learn at least one new skill .... MC provides both the opportunity to learn "advanced" armor scaling techniques plus a whole bunch of sewing ...

I was having this conversation with someone the other day. It is amazing that we can develop so many different skillsets from a hobby like this isn't it? I've been in technology for years but some of the weird super niche things ive done here have made me explore areas of tech I never thought I would, which in turn actually played back into my proffesional career. Have to love when a hobby also helps you develop :D
 
Ok, it took the better part of 8 hrs but I've completed scaling and fitting all 21 pieces that make up the chest armor and the 6 that make up the COD and then used MesjMixer to disassemble each fully assembled piece and now I have what should be perfectly fitting armor more of less ready to print.
The forearms, biceps and shoulder caps are already printed & ready to paint and I've also made one set of calf/knee armor that fits over my foot in one piece but I think I'm going to throw it into MeshMixer & Blender to see if I can do a little bit more form fitting as its a little loose now that I have the process down, this only leaves the thigh armor which I need to wait unit my undersuit pants are done to fit them corrcetly.
While painful, it was not a wasted one time effort as I already have next year's cosplay costume on the drawing board ... a complete Fallout T-60 Power Armor set where I'll need to do the exact same scaling & fitting process which should go much quicker assuming I remember what 'm doing ...
I'll take one more look at the armor in a day or two to ensure I'm still happy with the fitting and then its on to some marathon printing ...

This is an insanely cool thread holy crow!! I just sat down and read through everything and wow, your work is so impressive!! All of your costumes, and the Dalek especially, blow me away and your progress on Master Chief is awesome. I learned all kinds of things about resin and casting just by reading through that I wouldn’t have learned otherwise. I may not be going the resin/casting route, but it was still so cool to read.

I look forward to seeing more!! Good luck!

Thx! Given that I've learned a ton from others on forums like this I think it's important to give back by way of providing details of how I'm doing things so others might get some insights for learning new techniques or solving a particular problem ...
 
Unfortunately I've entered a 'strategic pause' in my 3D printing of the armor ...lol. I've had a 'cable fatigue' failure on my Prusa XL and am currently waiting for the replacement part to arrive. I did manage to finish printing and assemble the left calf armor and 2 of the 4 pieces of the right calf as well as both the L & R armpit gaskets of the toro armor before my printer died ...
However, all is not lost as my wife and I are opening up an Etsy laser engraving shop and so I've using the down time over the next couple of days to complete the production of all the initial products we will sell, do the product photography which will require me to setup my photography studio strobe lighting and camera setup and get the product descriptions on Etsy.
For anyone interested the shop is called "The Cat House Store" and will feature all manner of cat themed, signs, coasters, puzzles, sun catchers, LED night lights, lanterns, key chains, luggage ID tags, etc, etc. we should be open by Halloween at the latest ...

Cat themed you say? I'll have to keep an eye out for this, I adore cats.

Bummer on the cable fatigue, nice that you've made some good progress though!

100%! They can be so deeply strange compared to other cats but I love that. My void is incredibly smart but she likes to act like she's not, it's hilarious. Thanks for sharing your kitties with me! <3

i do have a degree in comp engineering but its kind of unsured. i have done light LV electrical for this project and some normal house electrical. and optical i know nothing about.

Yeah you can get one on Amazon for $39 and then you create any video you want and upload it. I've had Premiere Pro video editing s/w for man6 years ...

I would just by one of those holographic display signs found on Amazon and then you can create any video or image and upload it and then also create some kind of strap system to mount it to your glove with an on/off switch Velcroed to your index finger so you can turn it on and off with your thumb ...
