Hey all new here. I was wondering if anyone has ever looked into making and/or modding a vehicle into a Halo one. I have a few designs I have been working on for a while just havent found the best platform to start with. About a year ago I was on the bungie forums and there was a guy and his brother that were working on a hog and ghost but the site they had and everything else disappeared and I havent been able to find any of there stuff. If you know of any let me know or just let me know what you think of a project like this.

Tried folding that warthog, though it was one I unfolded from a mesh someone post, and it was very tough. I was making it small to use as a vehicle for 40k. If i could get the poly count it would be easier to fold that small. Larger would be pretty easy. Make a warthog for your GI Joes.

I think this guy wants to make an actual vehicle by the sound of his post. I suppose its possible (particularly the mongoose and warthog) but you would need a ton o' cash.

Actually it wouldnt be that expensive, You could just buy a crashed 4 wheel drive range rover. (you can get the really bad condition ones for 1000USD. (brand new crashed)).

Make sure that the chassis is in good condition... Literally rip off everything else (except for chassis, angine, axis and wheels. Then you could make the warthog body out of pepakura, and fiberglass it (use about 5 layers of fiberglass.)

This would work because many sports cars use fiberglass.

-Adjust and attach the body to the chassis, paint body and add windshields etc. create the interior, (add seats dashboard etc.) Dashboard could be made out of wood, you could cover the wood with rubber or a plastic, or fiberglass.

I would calculate the estimated average, cost for a warthod to be:

Chassis, 2000USD
Body (including all the materials, screws and stuff to attach to chassis), 800USD
Paint (aerosol spray paint or airbrush), 100-1000USD
Interior: (including machine gun turret),
-Seats, 50-400USD
-Machine gun turret, 100-200. (replica, not real ;) )
-misc (dashboard etc), 400USD.

TOTAL: 3450-4850 USD

Of course that might seem like alot of money but bluerealm had his helmet made for 3000USD...
I'm already making my mangoose... i have so far used 120euros. and i wont propably use more then 240dollars total.
(of course you have to add the price of the ATV i bought earlier...)

it would be cool I thought that you could take a small pickup truck and take the body off and just build the new body like in the shape of a warthog.
my friend has biult cars with nothing but a chasie be for so I'll ask him about it and draw up my own designs.

Yeah I was talking about a real vehicle. I have been looking at making my own take on a first gen hog. Starting with either a 1988 chevy S-10 two door or a old jeep honcho.

I wanted to make one myself but then I realized two things. I don't have an old Humvee to work with.
And I don't have a 100 grand in the bank.

So I gave up on that idea really quick.

well my friends and i have been playing with this idea of taking an older toyota tacoma and striping the exterior cosmetics, keeping the safety stuff intact and just use pep over it.

get a hummer HX if they decide to release it

You can have 3D model of warthog.
This is 2.3 MB ZIP-file, password: masterchief
This is eDrawings viewer with embedded model.
You can rotate, measure, insert section view, etc.
I built it long ago, model scaled to fit child of age 4-5 yrs.
You can build a vehicle for your child / brother or scale it to fit you :)
Model isn't so detailed, but try it anyway, it looks accurate enough.

Best regards.

Thanks for the e-Drawing Bevbor. Once again, you come through with a great reference.

As to the possibility of building an actual warthog, I have two things to say:

1) Steel Shop

2) Mechanical Engineering Degree

I even work at a custom truck body manufacturer as a design engineer.....

I'm still early in the design though, haven't even really started to make the models for FEA analysis of the chassis and suspension. I have a few references, but I'm still looking for more so that it'll be as accurate as possible. The biggest problem with the warthog is the suspension, all kinds of potential bad in there. (If you look closely at the 'hog in Landfall, you can see the suspension is from some kind of stock 4x4 vehicle chassis)

I need to finish some projects so that I can really get started on things like this. :cautious:

I did not know that Hummer had confirmed that the HX was going into production - I won't believe it till I see it though, cool that you got to check it out in person
