well i have never done anything 3d and from skupilkinson who did the hayabusa chest and I'm now trying to do a high def thigh piece based on the halo 3 model and trying to use reference pictures (very few shots of the legs in the gallery) and this is a WIP and I'm learning as i go

btw all reference was from looking at the todd macfarlane figure

scalling for the cod is add 1.8cm to your build i believe

downloads

both supports and no supprots and you do scaling by putting in the scale from the non supported model to the supported model

Shins with supports to scale remove about 0.5 cm off original robo scale or dont scale at all

looks like a good start.
is this from the ripped models or is it a scratch model.
Is it also possible to turn off the smoothness so its easier to see the edges and facets.

When ya mean symmetrical, do you mean doing both left and right thigh plates at the same time? The thigh is asymmetrical in most areas so it'll be hard to get the kind of symmetry you may be alluding to.

It's a great start :)

thanks! its a ripped model thats being edited to include the details lost in the normal maps
no but i hope this image suffices

the light green is the basic unedited model and the dark green is whats been raise and the white and gray is just for distance between the faces

It's a great start

Thanks again! yeah thats what i mean is there a way to tell the program to do that or not i not sure if it can other wise when it goes in Pep it needs to be done inside out.

thanks from both of you, people who have way more expierence than me at this so hopefully this turns out the way i want it too

and no i dont plan on having this piece as an attempt to compete with your model i still like it but obviously its not meant for my leg lol

btw anyone doing a thigh keep going it'll probaly be better than mine anyway

How could you forget my name?! :( I thought we had something! LOL!!! :D

I sent you a PM regarding the symmetry question. I hope it was the answer you're looking for buddy.

You're off to a promising start too. ;)

very nice crackhead, keep it up.
I see you are making a reply right now, that's gonna be a triple post if I didn't post this :p

well since there were no replys and since they were updates i figured why not

well what do you guys think of the thighs are they at least decent? I would love to know if I'm doing good bad need to do improvements in something

I'm very glad you have done what you did... :) the only thing I think you should add at the moment would be the indents on the front of the thighs...
and that one corner of that detail shouldn't be a corner but angled... But other then that it's great...

Also when I open it in Pep it says 2 objects were deleted for data normalization?

yeah i dont get the 2 objects were deleted thing either I'm glad you pointed out that angle thing gonna do that right now, as for the indents i dont think it would be necessary to model right now because i think if you were just to put a cardboard layer over it using a template would be alot less painful to do rather than attempting it in pep

Master Chief 13

I'm glad you think so!

*update I added in that forgotten detail but I'm having a hard time putting in the indents so just good luck doing the indents with a template

Just quickie, is there any chance of a second upload to 4Shared? Some of us(me being one of them) can't download from rapidshare.

Thanks

ok I'll do multiple uploads sorry everyone i thought that was the file sharing site everyone could use

looking good like others said its off to a great start but what i'd like to see on an HD model for the thighs is the inner shells even though most consider this to be a part of the under armor i think if this is created with the actual thigh piece peoples armor will look more accurate and wont be as hard to create a very detailed accurate piece. :D

So I noticed that you are coming along quite well. Congrates on a successful first 3d modeling! I thought I would ask you on some detail though.

I know you are raising a plate where I have my big arrow, but what of the in cut grooves?

The only other thing I wondered about is the in cut seem on the center of the thigh (two little arrows)

They are great thighs though, can't wait to see how they turn out!
