Is this from a game or something out of your imagination cuz this is gorgeous

Thanks man! It's actually based off of concept art that was given to me. The original concepts are pretty much line art without a lot of detail, and drawn from only one side view. So I was asked to come up with the actual shapes of the parts and add my own details to help bring the concept art to life. The original art was missing some things that you see in the 3D model, like the RIS system over the hand guard.

The files are for Link to build, which is for a film. I don't know the details, and if I did I probably wouldn't be able to talk about it anyways so that is why there aren't any titles/logos/or descriptions :(
Hopefully when everything is good to go he will post more information, but we are a ways off from that I am sure.

Because I like to torture my poor little HP desktop with only 3G of RAM, I decided to see how the CNC software performs when I throw a 5 million polygon object at it. Yep, 5 million - and it didn't even blink. Of course, build times will vary, and I had to guess on the scale (I put it at about 9 inches in length) I am going to be investing in a new desktop setup just for this type of work - with 16G of ram and a new processor so I can get the most out of ZBrush - and finally a second monitor so I can actually have my reference up at the same time!

This is only the first half of the model, of course. And once the material is flipped and the other passes are done there would still need to be some manual work for undercuts and such. But this is going to make projects much more fun in the future!

Lonely cnc software is lonely without cnc... :(

Know how ya feel without a cnc machine, if i had one it would probably break down 2x's per week due to it would never be shut off sonstantly cutting thigs i want out rofl, but again truly awesome work and artistic ability, love it all:D

Not 3D I know, but not really worth starting a new thread over. A side project of mine. Thanks to all of the foam using experts out there for the inspiration (EvilFX, Volpin, & Timecon!) I went a slightly different way with the templates and proportion setup, but it's more or less the same cut and glue method as theirs.

Also, not my camera. Thanks Melissa :p
