Will it be at all possible to see out of the ting with the lights in there? Because if I remember correctly you said that you were going to cover the eye holes with a piece of paper to get the right look.

The paper thing was just to show the el lights since I didnt have my lenses yet. I'm using blue sunglass lenses for this with EL wire around the edges.

what about el Tape?

What do you know about that?

differences in brightness, installation, etc?

I think fettster and weaselfinger are going to go that route.

EL tape is just that. Its exactly the same as EL wire only its tape. The way they did theirs was they put El tape in the middle of the eyes and you can see around it. It is not see through. I could do that, Im just don't think its worth it. You have to sacrifice a lot of visibility for that type of lighting, with EL wire around the edges and sunglasses lenses I should have cool looking eyes and be able to see good.

The black primer oh the helmet sort of reminds me of War Machine. Looks great.

Now there's an idea: two pulls of the helmet. One painted in the Iron Man scheme, the other as War Machine.

Magnum is smart.

That. Is. AWESOME! That's perfect for the premiere. Great job, Darthcalibar.

One question : How'd you get it so shiny?

Several light coats of paint from about a foot away, and a lot of wet sanding the primer before hand.

Wow, amazing job!!!

Could you estimate how much the whole project cost?

Paint - $20.00
Card stock - Had it (cost would be around $5.00)
Fiberglass Resin and cloth - Had it. (cost would be around $15.00)
Bondo - $15.00 (I only used like 1/8th the ammount I bought, the rest will be used for other projects)
Casting Resin and Silicone - Had it. (cost would be around $60.00 or less)
EL wire - Had it. (cost would be $20.00)
Knock off Oakleys for lenses - $10.00
Time (150 + hours of work at $6.00 an hour) - $900.00

So most of the stuff I had on hand but I'm pretty sure all the prices I gave were fairly accurate.
