Is Grand Theft Auto IV mocking Halo?

Meh, I have enough GTA's that I really don't need to give them more money if they are going to behave like this. I realize they think it's cool to "make fun of everybody". But there are better ways to do it.. For example, in Team America, nothing is beaten to death to such an extent and as result people just see what they want rather then being bashed over the head with the same mocking message continually (For example, every conservative I know feels that team america is a conservative movie (from the Film actors guild, and the sexual organ analogies), and every liberal I know thinks it's a liberal movie (because of the destruction caused by misguided ideals). But this crud drops to a level of OMGZ KILL CHILDREN AND HAVE TEH GAY ORGAZM.

I've never liked the GTA games. The current day setting + free roaming just doesn’t do it for me. Unless its sci-fi or fantasy based I just don’t get that excited... all you do is walk around and shoot people for no reason. And the whole “gansta” thing is just sad...

I honestly don't see how its so bad south park does the same sort of thing all the time, they were the ones who created Team America, and you can't really say they are making fun of Halo

i bought the game and it is awesome its the best one of the entire series and that show is on the TV you dont have to even watch it (ive never watched it once.) imo i thought it was funny. but to each his own.

I didn't find anything funny about it. The clip that was posted was 7 minutes long... how does that even fit into a video game? What a waist of animators and gamers time. They were mostly using halo as a medium to mock other things but REAL fans of halo don't want some jackasses smearing the name of the franchise with crap like that.
I bet the GTA guys are jealous of the profound popularity of Halo, after realizing that most of Rockstar games blow and that GTA is one of them along with being offensive and packed with tons immorality and pointless violence.
Rockstar is just trying to push the envelope with their games - no one appreciates it, or at least I for one do not appreciate it.

I'm not saying that this ruined GTAIV for me or anything. I've never been a fan of the series at all. I don't hate it because of this because I never liked it in the first place.

This just seems like a really offensive satire of like 4 or 5 different things simultaneously.. The U.S., the Military, the Iraq War, but.. also Halo. The fact that they included the scene with the ring planet and modeled the armor based on mjolnir to me means that the implication was intentional. They obviously had plenty of other things to say with this spoof, but I'm not letting them off the hook for lampooning Halo just because they included other topics as well.

Honestly, putting those characters in mjolnir suits is a commentary. That is what they think of Halo fans.

I'm just not going to get past that.

I hear ya, my SPARTAN brother.

If this was done out of spite due to the HALO franchise's success, then it was in very bad form on thier part to even conjure this up.

I mean, there have been other games that have done just as well as HALO in terms of profits and a huge fan following. Not every game that comes out can be expected to be a success like that.

If this was done in "good humour" on thier part, then again they failed miserably. There's nothing funny about it at all, imho. A total waste of time, if you ask me...

Its not like your forced to watch the video ingame. Its like how the strip clubs are in the game, they arn't required to go into to beat the whole game, they are there just as an option.

If I do get this game im mainly gonna stick to multiplayer, 16 people in a city with cops, civilians, and the ability to call anyone in the game on a phone for the heck of it, is awesome.

ah, it just fits perfectly into the humour and messages of gta games. it's not like rockstar are stupid or haven't done it in other games. okay, it's not that funny all the way through, but it's a political statement of some sort and i somehow don't think they want it to be taken seriously. it's probably more of a impulse for thought.
btw, i bet many europeans actually have a similar opinion about the usa (i don't, i've actually been there ).

I think the purpose of this was to really take a jab at gamer's really, on top of mocking the US military. They are obviously making a direct connection between people who are military and the implication of Halo, together. I think that they are implying that the military/ conservatives/republicans (politically) are just ignorant morons who go about causiing destruction and death. With that, they are mocking those who play halo, by directly associating those who play halo, are the same as these ignorant morons.

So I feel that its disrespecting both the US, the military and those who play halo, by tying the two together..Either way, it pisses me off. Screw GTA4, never liked the games to begin with

Why would Halo need publicity?
It is a very satirical game, they make fun of a lot of things. Does anyone have the sales statistics for the first 24 hours of GTA4 release? we already know Halo 3's ($170 million just in America for those who somehow don't know that)
And for the record, even though i don't like GTA, i still HATE jack Thompson.
