it looks really good! i would recomend working in sections! like getting the entire dome perfect and then moving on to the sides and such!

Exactly my thought process! I have herd the dome is the hardest , so I want that done first.

SICKNESS!!!!! Loving it! My 1 take would be don''t rondo the dome. Yout could be asking for trouble. I'd just progress to finer grit sandpapers once the final shape is there. That'll get it glass-smooth. Adding rondo is either a brilliant or stupid idea, I've used it on a helm and in parts it worked great, other parts it looks like crap. Can't wait to see more!~

Thanks man! I have never worked with rondo, so I guess it would be a better idea to just progress to finer grit sandpaper. I'll have some more pics up in a few days!

yeah, rondo can go EVERYWHERE, and you might get an uneven surface, or spillover. go from 100 to 250 to 500 to 1000 grit paper. It'll be as smooth as glass.

Im going to do some work later tonight! Im casting plasma grenade kits right now, so Thats takeing up some time.

UPDATES!!

I started the chest core (Thanks HughHolder for the AWSOME files!) Its made out of EVA foam floor mats . 6 mats for $20 at k-mart . Harbor freight has 4 mats for $15 . This is my first foam build so I am sorry if its not that great. I do like working with this stuff though!

it was a little small , So I toyed around with some of the interlocking edges. (See pics)

Very nice! Makes me want to rebuild my own out of foam.

It looks like most of the parts translated well to foam, though I know that the upper back area of the shoulders will probably get tedious. (Perhaps a simplified chest core made just for foam would help.)

Keep up the great work trooper!

Thanks man! For the shoulder area, I am not going to use a 100% pep. I think im going to use the basic peices and the rest will be from me. Like you said it will get a little tedious. That would be awsome! A simplified one for foeam??? Ill take it! Love the files man! If you are going to make a simple one just for foam, I am going to wait for that to come out and I will build that. I think after christmas I am going to buy a suit from sean bradly ( Macys parade 2011) but I will continue this build.

Hey guys!

Its been a long time and I havent done anywork on the helmet. I started working on it again a few nights ago. Here is a video of he progress I have made

I have-

Built up the chin

Smoothed out the back of helmet

and Started working in the detail lines on the right side of the helmet (if you are wearing it)

Enjoy

ah yes. i see the foam torso. though brilliant idea of using the interlocking pieces so that you can put it on

Thanks man! I needed a way to break it down and be able to make it more portable (plus its easier to get on)

Sorry I havent updated. I sanded the chin and put a final layer of spot putty on the dome. I primed it to see all of my imperfections lol I will post pics later

i did the same thing for my core using the foam. and i like ur idea of using the puzzle parts the join them........
