Well the jacket molding is still continuing. No pics, b/c I was fiberglassing the top of the plaster jacket for strength. Will be plaster bandage molding the helmet and gauntlet tonight. Yet an update on the armory, a friend and I were adjusting the hop up on the sniper rifle yesterday in the afternoon.

No, that is solid Aluminium custom airsoft sniper rifle. Looks pretty close to the SRS99, except that it is bolt action. Planning on adding the scope guard around it to make it further resemble it.

It also weights in at around a hefty 16lbs

Well started casting (will post some pics), had some good and bad results. Oddly some of the molds didn't properly cure (probably due to the crazy unpredictable temperature and humidity). Thankfully, the most complicated of molds turned out well, but some of the minor ones did not. Since using the all purpose silicon rubber to reinforced the mold, I'll be experimenting with the stuff to see if I could make molds with it. If so this might be an alternate method of molding. Will keep everyone updated with the progress.

On the exciting note, the helmet jacket mold is almost done. Hopefully the mold turned out all right.

Wow, I'm impressed. I've been scouring the forums looking at all of the different ODST/Helljumper etc. builds, as well as trying to get an idea on the process' to follow. (I've read the stickies, but each person's side is really helping build a mental image until I give it a try myself).

I hope this turns out, keep us updated!

Yeah I read a lot of stickies and learned a lot from other people, but then it also hit me! This might work, this might not, but if it works great, and even better for the community. Taking the leap/risk to try something different to hopefully help others.

Well still working on the silicon rubber mold, only problem is that it does take awhile to dry (more then 24hrs).

Some casts, you can see the parts where the mold didn't properly cure.

When removing the mold from the helmet, the mold looked like it turned out okay, but after the first cast, parts of showed that it didn't cure properly either :-(

Now the good new, at least one cast was able to be made

While I do plan on making two more ODST suits after this (for my two friends), I am probably going to wait until spring when it is warmer and weather will be less of an issue. Probably in the mean time I'll make a Samurai suit of armor (Yori) during the winter.

Nice!

The helmet is looking good - unfortunate for the parts that didn't cure.

With a little detailing and clean-up, the helmet looks like it'll be in good condition.

Yeah, some areas need to be reinforced to my liking, but everything should turn out okay. Hopefully if my silicon rubber molding experiment turns out well, then I'll just re-mold the parts that didn't cure right.

16 lbs is nothing compared to my 25 lbs. M249! You planning on making the S2AM around that beast?
