Here's today's progress.

Pretty, pretty dark gray primer, nearly the right color already.

Paint will be soon, and then an HJC black smoked visor. I was thinking about using Krylon Ultra-Flat black camouflage paint, or trying to find a super-dark gray, actually really close to the primer on this right now.

Alright...its good to see someone actually this far!! Hopefully you can finish the visor as well! I might have to start this one day, but after my MC is done. Totally nice and can't wait for the final pics!

Thanks, guys.

@WetOkole: I've got the visor already, and I'll probably be using chicago screws to mount it. ;)

@V1p3r: I don't think I have any pants that'd fit you, cause my legs are all stubby. :p

@Sniper: Whoo! Kittay!

yeah, are you the first one who completed the hard ODST helmet to this point? if so, keep up the good work.

Barry, hit the lights. Its......recon time. :D

I don't know if anyone's taken a V1 model to detailing yet, the dome for Belakor's is this same model, and I know some people have mentioned folding this (NZTK, Keegan, and others) , but I haven't seen any detailed.

I think I've figured out why the forearm didn't want to fit.

This is Belakor's unfolding at the default scale, I went back and measured it against my arm and got 27cm for the scale I should have used. Blah, time to make a new one

Wow you got 27cm for arm length? How tall are you? Because I', 6'1 and the scale after the math for me is 25cm.

I'm about 5'4". I'm pulling the forearm up till it covers the point of my elbow, and my arm pivots into and out of the slot on the inside of the armor. I checked that the armor was at the correct overall length for the 24cm scale, and then put the tape measure on it using the armor as a reference for how much extra length to add.

I made one up to 30, and it was as long as my whole forearm, but I thought it wasn't right due to the math, so I remade some smaller ones. Should it be up to the elbow?

mmmmm, I'm not sold on it.

Looks like it's made out of marshmallows.

Otherwise, the detailing is A+.

I'll reserve my judgment for a final paint / visor insert.

The way that I am scaling it is nearly the length of my forearm. I'm in SCA, so armor that doesn't cover the point of the elbow just doesn't feel right. Hopefully, this will go from just above my wrist to just at or past the point of my elbow when I bend my arm.

This is how I'm trying to scale it now. As soon as it's folded, I'll have some pics to show how it works.

I did smooth off some of the sharp corners, but a bit of the roundedness is because the sun was about to set when I was taking the last set of pics with the helm primered. I was out of town this weekend, so I didn't get to install the visor. Hopefully, that'll be done soon

Thanks again to SKG and Crew for working all this up for us, as soon as these minor hiccups are worked out we should have a bunch more ODST's running around. :D

yea mines like that. But it is somewhat spacious in the back near the elbow. Maybe I can fill it in with padding or something.

Finished folding up the base for the right forearm. I think that this one is scaled properly.

The comparison: left is the correct size (RalPartha's unfold at 28cm), right is the default scaling for Belakor's unfolding (24cm).

This was really nice to fold, and a quick build.
