so i have my school's JROTC color guard M1s. i figured i might as well keep a thread for the restoration of the rifles(i have 2) any constructive criticism is appreciated.

before the pictures, i want to clarify, these rifles are De-milled(unfortunately) and they belong to the McEachern NJROTC unit. i have been given permission to clean the rust off of the steel and paint the steel black.

can anyone provide a translation of this? we know it is greek and we believe that this rifle was used in the 90s as a training rifle for the Greek Army Evones(Presidential Guard) any help with this is appreciated, because we are still working on it

We looked up the serial #s and they both date back to the 1940s

more pictures to come!

Its always great to look at an M1 no matter what the condition, because they all are just great pieces of history!

Those are definitely some nice rifles you got there, i look forward to seeing what you do with them

Good Luck,
BearMan

Wow!

Great work man! Nice to see a historic piece regaining some glory!

As for your thumb, between spinning the rife (which i have never tried but have been told is a grueling task) and loading the rifle, its incredibly easy to wreck your thumb lol.

But again great work!

Cheers,
BearMan

Thanks! it was nice having history in my house. as for the greek markings i found on the stock, i havent been able to get a translation yet. still working on that

sent the pic to a Greek buddy of mine, he said it's def Greek letters, but they don't make any sense... seems gibberish reads "Yiagouais esso"

Aside from the translation provided above, the restoration looks great! You should have bought a firing pin and had a little fun before returning them to your ROTC command :p

beautiful weapons you have there and the resto work is amazing
thanks! it took me two weeks, everyone was impressed with the work i did to them.

wouldnt have done any good. they are completely De-milled, the barrels are plugged, there's a large cut on the bottom of the barrels. and they are both welded tight. but trust me, if i could have shot them, i would have
