I would like to make an accutal firing rifle semi auto of course since full i have to get a license for to use and operate. I just need to get the dimensions of the assault rifle so i could draw it up on a cad program and make sure nothing colides and or doesnt take the stress with different metals. I need all the dimensions not just a few to make it look and work right. I have the basic that i need for the barrel and bolt and reciver that i can make or get. I also am considering the different types of ammo that i could use with it too. Just i case the metal or plastic cant take the stress firing it. I have seen one that looks simular but i want to see i can make close to exact copy of the rile itself and also look into making handgun and battlerifle maybe shotgun and possible the sniper rifle. I first want to see if i can make the assualt rifle.

I would not recommend this in the slightest. Beyond being most likely illegal in most countries, it would be highly dangerous, especially to yourself without specialist knowledge, especially concerning areas such as pressure, and material strengths. The only kind of "working" gun I would consider would be a laser tag type inside a Halo firearm shell.

Just judging from your username... I don't think you have the experience to do so, and two, as the previous poster said, it is such a dangerous attempt. Building a common firearm would be a challenge in that as it is, but building the odd bullpup design of the MA5C? No way.

Ok I have people that are experianced gun smiths. I really just need the outer shell thats all i can get the rest to work since i can take the a bullpub desgin from a similar firing put modifit in my own way. I also have programs that show me where the strains and stuff are going to be so i wont be firing it just imputing wut is going to take place and make it happen. all i need is the dimenisons. For it being illegal its not in the U.S.A. You need a working model before u can even think about manufacturing anything. All i need is to fine tune the rifle to make it work right.

(My opinions in no way represent the opinions of the 405th management, or of other members) I am okay with paintball, airsoft and laser tag. But I can't recommend building an actual working firearm to Halo specifications. This can lead to nothing but BAD, and bad press for Halo and possible action by Microsoft. I cannot think of a single way in which this is not a terrible, terrible idea. Please don't do this.

"I need... I need... I need" is always a bad way to start. Try please and thank you, and proper grammar and punctuation always helps. With that said, it's only fair to warn you that you probably won't get much help in your endeavor from most of the members of this forum. The reason for this is that the 405th is dedicated to costume and PROP making, not functional weapons manufacturing. Try not to get defensive about it, it's just the way we are. We freak out when people want to use their armor for airsoft or paintball.

IF the Mods don't mind, I'll gladly point you in the right direction for those dimensions, but until we see an "okay" from them, I sort of see this topic as off limits.

Well basicly im doing wut u guys are doing making really shell of the gun the rest u can get from other rifles and if i wasnt sure of wut i was doing i wouldnt even atempt it. I can say i know gun smiths that can tell me wut is possible and wut is not i have programs that i can use to show me wut would happen so if i cant do it will know but so far i need to know everything before i even atempt it.

If anyone reads what i said if i didn't think this was possible i wouldn't try it but its more or less possible there are a lot of things i know i would have to change on it but i would like to keep the general design of the rifle it self. I am responsible and wont blame anyone for my actions i will sign an agreement too if you so do want. I have experienced gun smiths that can tell me what i can and cant do with the rifle if I need be but first i cant do anything without any plans that give me the full dimensions. I have everything else i need to know about the rifle that halo provided. I know what it takes to make a rifle i have many of my own. I personal and maybe many others would like to fire close to accurate halo rifles. I do not intend to make more then just one for me only and everything on it will be serial other then stock of the rifle. I am not making the any of the mechanical stuff in side the rifle. I simply just making the stock and putting on the rifle the right things that would any rifle would have. Pm the plans with all dimenions if you feel like you dont want anyone else to try this. If it really doesnt work out in the end i will post it constanly to the people that would want to.

I agree with Flyerfye, this will most likely result in bad press for Halo. I'd try it with a nerf gun instead. Futhermore having worked with a gunsmith and worked on firearms, I don't think this is a good idea from a "safety" standpoint either. Most functional guns are precision made to handle exact pressures, handbuilding them can result in poor materials and construction. Handbuilding firearms is extremely dangerous, so use a kit! I am also currently unaware of any commercially available bullpup firearms at this time. It's not to hard to build an AR-15, but (as far as I know) the 405th discourages building functioning firearms due the implications. (Someone gets shot by what he thinks is a "prop", victims family finds 405th, and halo costuming dies... which is why I cringe whenever I see a pink AR-15) Most halo firearm dimensions are on the halo wiki.

I disagree with this project upon the bounds that it crosses too far into the bounds of reality. I play videogames as a form of escapism, and I make armor because I enjoy building things. By creating a functional weapon from a violent video game, you cross from the bounds of escapism/fantasy into the real world. So PLEASE DON'T DO THIS. Okay?

Also, most states require that you register homemade firearms with the BATF.

Most people here are fine with you building "shells"/props of Halo weapons, so you might want to look into the pepakura section.

Oh, and no, I am an extremely strong supporter of the Second Amendment and love to shoot guns. I don't believe that the right to have, carry, and use (if necessary) arms, should ever be infringed or taken away.

There is bullpup rifles on sale i can find them but so far i doubt im going to get the parts for it to work ok i just would like to if i ever got the money i just would like use a program to see it would work. Sorry to say but gunsmiths do make guns they are able to make it all so dont tell me they cant. I will keep it locked up if I do make it and i wont ever manufaturate it in any way. To say that doing wut im doing is crossing the bounds then you havent looked at people that are making swords and stuff from other games and movies. So im not crossing the bounds just full filling wut other people havent yet. Well im unaware of that law I will have to look up about registering it but if I make it first and any other halo or any other fictional fire arm. To repeat wut i said before I want to make sure this works out before I will atempt making it and if i can get all the parts to make it then I will not let anyone else other trained people handel it. No one hasnt come up wiht a reason yet unless u have made one that works and it isnt that great or doesnt work just right but you have yet to show me.

I just suggest you drop this project, but if you do go through with it. Be careful.

I want to alest try. I keep telling everyone. I know what i am doing and what is at risk. I want to alest model it in a Solidworks to even see if it would work the right way.

Yes, plenty of gunsmiths do handbuild firearms (most however are built off a manufactured action.) I apologize, if it sounded like I was saying that they can't. Also, those were just my personal thoughts about prop-building. For me, that would be crossing from something fun into something possibly dangerous.(But of course, you could wreck more havoc with a warthog/car than with a gun.) If you are responsible and respect all laws, there really is nothing stopping you from creating your MA5. You can talk to a couple of people who have scratchbuilt their own MA5Cs on this forum (for measurements), but as stated before, some people may have qualms about a "real" firearm.

Sorry, other than BMGs, I forgot that I've seen a couple of bushmasters that have been modified to bullpup along with FN & Steyer.

You mentioned that you have worked with solidworks. You could "build" it in SW to determine whether or whether not any of this is possible.

I would suggest talking to a Mod about this project before associating it with the 405th.

Ya I was going to do since that has a better way of telling u what and what wont fit at first and I think maybe stress points and other things that could help keep it from blowing up in my face. Oh there is more then that they have the Aug out there and there are more that are from other militarys but put into civilians hands that they have of bullpup. I would just have to get the things barrel and receaver and some other little things but that im not sure how much it would cost. I will because its not looking like anyone here would even try to help figuring out if you could even make it happen.

If all you're doing is taking an existing firearm and dropping it into a shell, that's legal.

If you're manufacturing firearms... you'd best have the phone number of the BATF on file.

I strongly caution you against attempting to "make it happen." At least until you have an

engineering degree under your belt and a few years as a machinist.

Airsoft/Paintball and/or lasertag are FAR less likely to kill you or someone else than

a home built firearm is.

While it sounds like a cool idea. You could be digging your own grave so to say.. This is very dangerous.. with or without experience, the slightest mistake and it could misfire.

But To answer your question. It would probably be a good idea to make one from Pepakura first. It would be perfect for all of your dimensions and you would get a good idea on what you were doing.

First build a pepakura shell. That should give you correct dimensions for it. Then, as rook says, it is legal to "drop" a working weapon into it and still be legal. Talk to Wizard of Flight about weapon blueprints. He has tons.

Well I know my brother is a machinest and then all i first want to do is make sure this would work on Solidworks. Maybe i might have to make adjustments to the things but ya its not dangerous when u know wut ur doing. I already know how to test fire it and i have places to test fire it so it wont kill or hurt anyone. Im just basicly taking the body of the halo assault rifle droping in a bullpup rifle with about the same dimenisons and doing it that way it might work and it might not who knows.

It's not dangerous when you know what you're doing? Really? Did you REALLY just say that?

Okay. How about the former squadron commander who didn't latch himself into the RIO seat of a Tomcat for a training flight and ended up nearly killing himself in a moderate-altitude inverted ejection?

How about the trained munitions inspector who was horribly mangled when an explosive he was safety-checking went off in his hands?

Or, maybe you'd prefer the truck driver who knew what he was doing until he rolled his rig, spilling tons of fuel onto the highway and burning to a damned crisp in his cab?

Knowing what you're doing does NOT remove the danger factor. Besides that, you don't know what you're doing. Your people might, but you don't.

I'm all for great props, but making a REAL, WORKING firearm out of a Halo weapon? No. I may be new to the forum, but I'm no noob. (Definitions differ between newb and noob) I'm also not an idiot. I beseech you, unless you want to get shot, arrested, or sued, don't do this. You know the people who say M-rated games make murderers? This would be a feeding frenzy for them.

Go ahead, buy a bullpup. Go ahead, make an MA5. But do NOT combine them. It's not cool.

That said, I suggest the Nerf Longshot if you want to make a somewhat-functional Battle Rifle. The aesthetics are very similar. And the Longshot is very easy and workable; There are several Lancer Rifles from Gears of War rendered in Longshot.
