Updates!
First off, I'd like to say it is great to be back! After the down-age and what not, missed a lot of you and hope to see some big projects up ahead!

So this year... I will just be bondoing my armor, and choosing a color scheme. I am more likely going to be a shade of Blue, and I was going to do yellow for secondary, but that is pending depending on what other opinions say about that idea. I will be painting and making new gauntlets, so every time I bend my arm, someone in the room doesn't get hit. (Old ones were freakin' big!) I currently have one gauntlet done, but will post pictures of that tomorrow, if I can, if not then the day after, because I have resin and fiberglass matting at my house, so I could work on it/them here! As for the bondoing... I have begun to make my helmet suitable for bondo, as shown below.

Had to tape off the visor and breathing tubes so it doesn't get damaged.

I also plan on making the front smoother, for better look!

And that is it for today, have any advise, be sure to share if you please, thank you! It is good being back!

So far with bondoing I am getting used to it, my dad helped me with the top of the helmet to show me how it works and such, and I think I am getting a hang of it, here are the images so far:

Looks really neat right?!?!?! :D Don't worry, I know it isn't, or isn't supposed to be... yet! I was going to sand today as well, but it began to rain, so I will leave that for tomorrow! And there is still some bondo work to be done to the helmet on the front and all over it as well.

Looking good so far. Just keep checking your reference pics and you'll do fine.

Btw, I'm in NY visiting family this week, and it was raining today for me too XD

Helmet's looking great, when you finish sanding be sure to put on a base coat of paint so you can see any problem areas better. Keep up the good work!

Alright New Update:

So... So far I have bondoed various areas of the helmet, so far I am mostly doing the back to get it all smoothed out and nice looking. I have done a bit to the helmet, I have already sanded most of the areas seen in these images below by now, because I am a bit late to upload these pictures. But anyways here you go! Pictures:

Sorry to bumb an old tread but I have been out and wanted to check out the progress of people. This one is looking pretty good. Makes me want to do more work and rework some things on mine.

Honestly, that sounds like a great idea! And don't worry about the bump, your work looks really good! I am glad that I was able to see where you left off at! I hope that you do finish your armor, so I can see how awesome it will come out! :D

Big-ish Update!

Alright! So... the progress that has been made on the helmet is quite a lot from when no bondo was applied to the helmet, and also from the last update. I have applied a coat of primer to the helmet to see all of the imperfections, after many layers of bondo, and I do believe that it looks pretty good, if I do say so myself! :D

First the non-primered images:

I have discovered a weak spot though, that I will have to cut a hole out of, and fill it in with bondo, so that will be shown here:

How do you get things so nice and rounded and even and smooth with bondo?

You have to sand it. A LOT. A palm sander helps, but you'll have to ask Gray, I don't know if he's using one or not. It's just sand, sand, sand until its smooth.

Like so:

Hey, i was wondering is this guy not resin o_O ? But yeah it keeps out good.

I Like the color red :p

So anyways why did you fiberglass them on all sites ?

Regards
Alex

Gotta say this is coming along really sweet looking nice and smooth on the helmet too.

Also you may have missed a sand or two you know add those 4 layers then the touch ups then more....then more....and so on.

Yes, do thin layers then sand then repeat.

And spot putty is a god sent too, helps smooth it out.

Yes, what RTWHOCKEY stated is pretty much exactly what you have to do, just keep applying different coats of bondo until it ends up coming out smooth! And I did use a random orbital palm sander, it helps A LOT, because hand sanding would basically be like buying a ticket to bondo hell (in my opinion) because it is that much work! Especially if the coats you apply are more on the need of being thick, due to whatever the reason be. What I used on the palm sander for roughing out the thicker layers was a 60 grit sanding disk, which is VERY coarse\rough. And I used 100 - 150 for fine sanding, like when I really just want to make the final coat of bondo smooth out.

Alright tiny update, no images just words...

Alright so, what I did this for is just to say that I am alive, and that I will be posting images of the helmet tomorrow, primed and painted. Oh, and the helmet is painted by the way :D But not fully, just the basic coat of blue that I wanted for it. And I used the same technique on the helmet, meaning that it will have an orange peal finish texture to it, and the reason I couldn't do much is because I had, and still have, this odd cough that I need to take medicine for that started a day or so before I started sanding the paint and bondo from the helmet, so I had to take a week off of it or so, because my doctor suspected that I may be allergic to the materials and dust particles, because originally, I didn't wear a mask, silly me :( . But I still cannot as of currently, because I am visiting the doctor tomorrow(hopefully) to see if it was the case. But I was also diagnosed with bronchitis, and then post nasal drip, which to me, sounds like my was dripping before it was supposed to? I don't know... But Yeah. I will post images of the helmet tomorrow, and thats about it. See ya.

I have returned from shopping, which I was originally going to post the images before that event, but had too little time, so I figured I'd do it when I returned, so I did! Here you go: (Criticism appreciated!)

A bit warped, but MUCH better than before! And it's hard to notice because it is only beneath the the visor thing on the top. The top looks fine.

Continuing last post, due to only 15 images being the capacity of images per post...

PAINTED! But not finished with paint.... Needs drying time...
