@Any Mods- I have an old thread for a Mk VI build, could you delete that please? It went very, very south. Thanks :)

Greetings again 405th,

Turns out my last build went fubar. Honestly, I couldn't be happier. I'm meticulous and it wasn't turning out to my standards. For that reason, I have decided to do a Mk V build. Am I doing it because it's easier? Yep, sure am. However, Halo was one of my favorite games ever, and where it all began. I don't mind being a Spartan in that armor :). I battled with the scaling for awhile, and thanks to someones comment on the Facebook page and some crazy formula (science!), believe I have something I can work with. Here are some pics.

And here's me in my work costume (like a boss) -.-:

Heh, looks good man, seems like maybe the forearm needs to be moved down your arm a bit closer to your wrist and then outward. That big bump usually goes at the elbow, at least on Mark VI.

MOZ's Mk V armour set should be a required build for NOOB's. It's straightforward, so it doesn't take forever to see progress, yet looks good when completed. I built the helmet in a couple of days, start to finish.

I think changing to this build was a good idea. Once you've practiced the skills you can move on to something more complicated (I'll be doing a HD Mk VI over the winter). In the meantime you'll have a kickin' armour suit to show off and only a very small percentage of folks will realize it's a beginner piece. So while not Dragon Con worthy, it'll be great for local cons, parades, etc.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Oh, and I agree, the forearm is certainly misplaced, and maybe oversized. Need a new pic of it located differently to tell for sure.

  1. MattH Approved!!
Lol this WIP thread is 100% awesome. Long live the Mark V!! They are rare to come by ;)

Let me know if you want pointers that I figured out McLen!

if you don't want to make the arms. i have a set that i need to sell. little work needed, but allot easier then starting from scratch.

pm me for pictures and details

@MattH - Your build was actually what inspired me, my hat is off to you sir. Pointers are very much welcome, feel free to PM or e-mail: mikelen7(at)gmail.com

@rvb18 - Love your Jun build, we can definitely talk business about the arms.

I realized the forearm was off after I snapped the pic, I was running out to my Lodge and in a hurry. Good call all, thanks.

Update- Just finished the stomach. Tried the same scaling as arms and back... epic fail. Going to have to figure something else out. Any help would be appreciated in that department. Here's a pic.

i have an HD stomach plate. if you like i can pm you the file. i believe it was made by crackhead09. to scale it, go by height. waist line to 2 inches down from the chest plate should work for a moz plate. i went by width on the HD model.
