Remaking movies isn't a new concept, it has been done for a long time. It's not that strange, as the technology develops, so does our demands. Many classic movies from the mid 20th century wouldn't cut it with the general public, but a remake with great CGI and smooth pictures would. Hollywood is about making money, and if people pay to go see remakes, they are bound to get made. Also, ideas aren't always that new. Just like many games use references from other games but alter them a little to be "unique", many stories are quite similar. James Cameron did a remake of Pocahontas and added some CGI and a futuristic setting, and many people call it the greatest movie ever. Pocahontas was probably not an original idea to begin with. Characters and storylines have been reused over hundreds if not thousands of years. In very many movies, similarities to Shakespear's plays can be found, and Shakespear used plots and characters from the storytellers of ancient Greece and Rome. It's not that strange really, the human mind is very much influenced by the things we experience. Creativity isn't creating something brand new, but combining or altering already existing things to make it better or more beautiful.
So in conclusion, with no offence, if you think you have a unique movie idea, you probably don't. Still could be worth making a movie of, so don't give up if that's a dream of yours.
