STEP INTO THE WORLD OF AN ODST WITH THE “HALO 3: ODST” LIVE-ACTION SHORT, DEBUTING THIS LABOR DAY WEEKEND AS FANS EVERYWHERE PREPARE FOR THE LAUNCH OF “HALO 3: ODST” ON SEPTEMBER 22

Today, Microsoft unveils a “Halo 3: ODST” live-action short, a 90 second ad spot for the eagerly awaited Xbox 360 exclusive, “Halo 3: ODST.” The ad debuts today exclusively on MySpace at www.myspace.com/gametrailers and IGN.com. The “Halo 3: ODST” live-action short is a haunting, action-packed production that charts the life of a UNSC Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, or ODST.

In addition to the online debut of the 90 second short, Halo fans in the United States will be treated to a special, extended two minute 30 second version exclusively on Spike TV on Monday September 7. The extended version will premiere during “Band of Brothers” at 10:30 PM ET/PT.

The short will also be available to download on Xbox LIVE starting September 8.

For the production of the “Halo 3: ODST” live-action short, Microsoft and Bungie partnered with ad agency TAG SF, Legacy Effects (props), Asylum (visual effects) and Final Cut (editing). The short features an original musical score written and produced by Human. The short was directed by Rupert Sanders with MJZ, the director of the award-winning “Halo 3” ad spot “Believe.” The short was filmed on location in Budapest, Hungary.

Also launching today at 6:00 p.m. PT is a unique “Halo 3: ODST” interactive experience site on www.xbox.com/halo. Visitors will be in control of an Operations of Naval Intelligence (ONI) application that blends science, psychology and analysis to evaluate which ODST candidates are best suited for upcoming missions in “Halo 3: ODST.” Featuring over 20 minutes of interactive content, visitors can interact with the evaluations of the four ODST squad members they will be fighting alongside in “Halo 3: ODST” in order to dive deeper into the fiction of the game. Microsoft and Bungie worked with AKQA SF and TAG SF on the experience site.

Suit up and prepare to drop September 22 when “Halo 3: ODST” hits retail stores worldwide.

Following up on the song questions:

"The short features an original musical score written and produced by Human"

So I guess we probably wont find it anywhere unless they decide to release it... hopefully they will :)

I'm wondering if it's even possible for level 4 clearance right now. I can't figure it out for the life of me. I wanna see the missing parts lol!

Good gods! See, why can't the Halo Movies just be made like this? This one blows Neil Blomkamps movie out of the water (I feel.)

They should just get these guys (or Marvel) to do the movie.

God, I hope they release the song. It fit perfectly with the video.

Edit: I used an audio extractor to rip the end song from the video. It's still got the sound of an explosion and reloading, but that just adds to it. It's not a lot only 20 seconds, but it would make one kicka55 ringtone.

I take no credit at all for this, the sounds still belongs to it's creators, and all that blah blah blah.

Wicked.

ODSTs are the Navy Seals of the future.

Marine Force Recon of the future. :)

At the Bungie panel there was a slide labled ODST Team Recon, a picture of the supervisor looking angry, and there were three letters on one side (unfortunately didn't nab it) and XII VI on the other, which is a hint for you alternate reality game players from what I gathered from the Bungie staff.

I got to watch this with my original inspiration for Halo Armour, the ThirdWhat (formerly of NAS) guys, while waiting in line for the panel. He was like "guess what just got released online, and handed me his iPhone. Beautiful.

I'm really looking forward to a complete overhaul of my suit now. :) As I've said a million times, once the release is done, it's time to retire this suit (except for Halloween) and start doing it proper justice.

This trailer made my crappy day somewhat better.

IT was also epic beyond belief. This reminded me of why i love halo.

Wow, I was thinking of putting together a short when me and my friends got all the gear we wanted to make done. I think all we need now is ODST armor. thank you for posting... Amazing

I think it should be born in mind that while Rupert Sanders is clearly an incredible director, no feature-length film would be quite as intense as the Believe or We Are ODST campaigns. It would be impossible to make that so. That said, a ten-minute We Are ODST battle sequence would be a joy to behold. That ad seriously got me self-hating with regards to Operation Chastity.

Interestingly, recent details also outs the fact that Stan Winston Studios was involved in the Believe campaign (tied in with the sale of the Spiker by auction from SWS earlier this year), meaning Halo has already worked with 2 of the best effects companies in the business along with Weta.

I'm still trying to figure it out and have no clue I learned of it from 360sync via Twitter.

Fix'd and NO.

While Disney does own Marvel (dammit) I'm pretty sure that Marvel Digital Studios (I think that's the guys that have been making all of the movies) will continue making un-altered views on their created universe.

However, as the Halo comics were published by Marvel, I had the crazy idea one day that they could produce the Halo movie as a Marvel/Microsoft movie. I thought it'd be cool.

OMFG! :eek

That was awesome! (Yes, it took me this long to get to a computer that could play it, hate the web filters at work...)

LastSpartan, Thank you so much for those shirts, gonna have to get one real soon.

Achille, the flag's design is the same as the coffin graphic, just with some text on the top of the pod. (looked like a battalion number?) Also, there's another flag hanging up in the background right before the flag folding at the start.

Who else needs to make that flag?
