OK, one more quick question and then I'll stop getting off topic. Did you use straps and buckles to secure the two halves of the chest? That's what I settled on last night. It seems to work ok, but it's a PITA to clip and adjust.Here's what I did with mine, though I didn't have boots at the time so I had nothing for them to rest on.

I will also have a scout helmet, one ODST shoulder and one sniper shoulder. I plan to also put "405th" on the back of my costume.

Man PAX is getting closer and closer totally stoked. Longshot-x I was going through the stuff in halowaypoint on my XBOX today, and you Adam and others are all over waypoint pics interviews and The guy I got some pictures with last year I attached a pic of him mabey ya guys can put a name on his suit for me I owe him a thx he was the one that got me into all this and involved on this site. they were interviewing 405thers at comic con and what not and going trough what to expect at PAX full HALO CE playable at PAX not just the muti player like they usually do but campaign coop play epic can wait AUG couldn't come sooner. And Longshot-x your suit the images on here do not do the justice compared to the waypoint photo's epic work I bow to your greatness.

It's a bit late, but here's my experience with prop weapons:
PAx 09 my sister and I were asked to put orange tips on our SMG and pistol for our ODST costumes. We took a piece of bright orange paper off an ad and taped it to the front using blue painter's tape (they said the blue tape would not work on its own since it wasn't an orange safety color)
PAX '10 we had zero issues with weapons. I brought along the same SMG and pistol as in '09 as well as one of Adam's ARs and one of Lee's Halo1 style pistols. The photos someone mentioned they were looking for are available for viewing at this URL until my Flickr account expires (moving over to Smugmug):

Unfortunately this had to be the first year PAX is not held on Labor Day weekend, making it difficult for me to attend. I am currently over in North Carolina under activation orders with the Marines, and trying to convince my chain of command to give me time off is a bit of a stretch (though I'll definitely be giving it a try). Looks like you folks definitely have things organized, and I really wish I could be there. Someone needs to convince them to make this an annual event, or some of you folks need to come out next year for when Halo4 comes out.
PS Kevin, want me to give you admin access for that FB California/west coast halo group so you can try to organize things there a bit as well?
If only this was on labor day weekend so I could be sure of getting some time off!

But yeah, it was kind of odd. Luckily had that little bright orange piece of scrap paper though, so it all worked out...and as I mentioned, they didn't say anything about the exact same props the next year, so shouldn't be an issue this year hopefully.
As for leave...on deployment orders, so that's a no-go. Unfortunately we're only getting our schedules the week before, so it's hard to see if that weekend will be empty enough to toy with the idea of getting time off. But there's always next year.

You know, it's weird that PAX asked you to orange cap back in '09..... I was there also in '09 dressed as a chimera from Resistance 2, and I was constantly holding my gun and no one said ANYTHING to me (except obviously "dude that's awesome" kind of remarks).
And I mean, not to pat myself on the back, but it literally looked like I pulled it out from the video game itself, it didn't look fake it all. Even Insomniac Games was crazy impressed; got a lot of media attention from it. And if it wasn't for the weight (it only weighs 2 lbs... as it's made of all foam), you would think it was real when holding it.
