So, I was thinking about punisher being in Spider-Man Brand New Day and thinking about making a ODST armor set. Eventually those thoughts overlapped and I crossed the ODST and Punisher logos. So then a lightbulb went off in my head and I thought “hey, I should build that!”

I really want to finish this by Megacon Orlando 2026. So here we go!!!

I want to use the Halo 3 version of the ODST for the base.

Reference photos below (plus I made the logo combo)

This is such a cool concept. I am looking forward to seeing it at Mega! Do you know what method you plan to craft it out of? Foam or Print?

Added this thread to my watch list to keep track btw :D

I’m definitely 3d printing the helmet. I will most likely use foam for the rest of the armor, but it was thinking of doing a hybrid of both.

For the hybrid idea I was looking at doing the camo armor pieces in Eva foam, and the plain grayish black armor pieces 3d printed. (My armor will be all black though, to match the punisher look)

Hybrid is a great option and you are making a good choice on which pieces to have as foam! Can't wait to see your progress!

Plenty of ODST build threads to read through. A weekend of reading 50 threads will save you from working out techiques from scratch that have already been published. Here's mine but there's LOTS more on here

Thanks! That will be so helpful!!!

That is such a good show. When your kit is done it is going to look so cool! Are you thinking foam or 3d printing or both? I can't wait to see it! Have you started anything yet?

I am gonna do both. So far I have started printing the helmet and scaling the rest of the armor. I do need to get some more foam though (now that I think about it)

Niice. Scaling can be so hard for me ! I hoep it goes smoothly for you. I can't wait to see the progress with both! Amazon has some good prices on foam. Don't forget blades!

So I have been in deep research and planning mode these last few weeks. I have made some progress on scaling and printing the helmet.

For future me notes:

Color Key:
Red-In progress

This is a solid plan so far, especially since you’ve already locked in some of the big pieces.

For the parts you still have marked with “?”, I think both foam and 3D printing make sense depending on what you’re more comfortable with.

Chest / Ab / Cod / Butt plates:
Foam is lighter, cheaper, and easier to fit, especially for larger panels. That said, if you prefer cleaner edges and sharper detail, printing these can be easier from a design standpoint and give you more consistency.

Shoulders / Biceps / Forearms:
These work well either way. Foam keeps weight down and is more forgiving for movement, but printed parts definitely win on crisp detail and symmetry. A mix of foam bases with printed detail plates can be a good middle ground.

Hip plates / Thighs / Shins / Knees:
Foam is usually the more comfortable route here since legs take a lot of movement. Printing them works too if you’re confident in sizing and want everything rigid and uniform.

Boots:
I’d still recommend real boots either way, then foam or printed armor shells on top depending on comfort vs. detail.

Weapon-wise, for a Punisher ODST I’d personally lean toward:
  • MA5C or MA5K as a primary to keep the ODST identity strong
  • M6G / M6C / SOCOM-style pistols fit the grounded Punisher vibe really well
  • M9 frags and mags add a lot visually without much extra effort

At the end of the day, foam tends to win on comfort and cost, while prints win on detail and ease of design. Both can look great once paint and weathering tie everything together.

Really cool concept, looking forward to seeing how you tackle it.
