Hey darnydre :p
I thought about your idea and I saw on a R2D2 pic he had an optical lens. How will you make it? With a real lens?
I will use a little light torch.

I actually working on paterns.
The head is easy to make with blender and the body too.
I just need to work on the "arms" now :)

I just need to make the arms.
If someone can help me for arms the help will be appreciate ^^'.

I used to have the screen accurate templates for cutting the pattern out in sintra(pvc sheet), but my dead hard drive ate it. I'll see if I can find them and get permission to post it here. They are .pdf patterns and 100% complete including internals and electronics diagrams for lights and r/c.

It's not really expensive to build one, but it takes a heck of a lot more time than building armor. It is even cheaper if you won't be doing the moving legs or electronics. Finding a good dome seems to be the hardest part, so I would go with pepakura for that. The dome needs supports if you are doing it in pep. I also suggest using chipboard because of the size of the dome.

Check this place out, they have a lot of useful information. http://astromech.net/

2 new low def pep files :)

Arm :

I make all in low def beacause it's my first 3d models.

Pep will start soon

that's a good start. just wondering how accurate your trying to make it?....not trying to be rude but even your low def models are fairly incorrect. I have been building my r2 for quite some time now and have amassed a large collection of blue prints that might help.

last thing I thought I would point out on the body of your droid you made the skirt round all the way around and it's not supposed to be. If the images are to small I have larger copys on my site under R2D2.
